CHL to NCAA Recruiting Megathread

I have done some research on the league, and we were able to catch a game when we were up there, but just curious how the league is viewed? Is it scouted by the CHL? Thanks!

QMJHL regular season finished Saturday, OHL and WHL have a few games Sunday. will write up my QMJHL playoff preview first like last year. if you were wondering about some of your prospects not being on the roster for a game this weekend, teams will rest guys as long as they know their placement in the playoffs. also any younger affiliate players usually get the callup for a next season audition cup of coffee. the last home game is usually a celebration of the OAs so rosters end up being focused around the 3 oldest players and then a bunch of affiliate players making their debuts, while some of the top scorers are in the press box.

Some interesting facts on the season:
  • This is the first season since 2011-12 where no team in the OHL has gotten 50 or more wins. If Brantford wins their last game, they would be at 49. In the QMJHL Moncton hit 50 and Everett, Prince Albert, and Medicine Hat hit that mark too.
  • The Moncton Wildcats win back to back regular season titles, both times hitting the 50 win mark. This one was a lot closer, with Rimouski being 12 points back of them last season and Chicoutimi being 1 point back this year. It came down to Moncton's final game to decide the winner, which was a decisive 6-1 win for the Wildcats. Everett Silvertips also win back to back regular season titles, but theirs wasn't all that close. The regular season title in the OHL went to Brantford
  • Penticton Vees have rewritten the records book on CHL expansion team success in their first season. They win the BC Division title by virtue of 8 more loser points than Prince George
  • For the first time in 6 seasons, the Midwest Division was not won by the London Knights. The Kitchener Rangers had them beaten by 16 standings points and are second in the league.
  • The final remaining division winner to sort out will be pending the result of Windsor's game against the Soo. Both Windsor and Flint have 95 points, but Flint finished their season. By first tiebreaker in case of a Windsor loss, Flint would win the West Division.
  • Only other standings decision left for Sundays games is Spokane jumping Kamloops if they get any points vs Seattle. 5th seed vs 6th seed is the difference between seeing an inconsistent Kelowna or a much scarier Prince George.
  • Very few players hit 100 points. Only Chicoutimi's Maxim Massé (UMass) and Medicine Hat's Ruck twins hit that mark with 108 (Markus) and 104 (Liam) and 102 (Massé) respectively- with the caveat of Cameron Schmidt having 1 game left and being only 3 points behind (2 goals short of 50 too). He's definitely capable of getting a bunch of points, but Seattle could rest him as they locked up a playoff spot. Last year the OHL had 6 players, the WHL had 6 players, and the QMJHL had one- Providence freshman Jonathan Fauchon. The Q has 4 less games in their season though. Last years highest scorer in the entire CHL was Michael Misa with 134, narrowly beating Andrew Cristall's 132. unless Schmidt has a 12 point night or something we will end with 108 as the high mark.
  • Leaders in goalie stats in each league- Harvard commit Rudy Guimond for the QMJHL, Penn State commit Ryder Fetterolf for the OHL, and Michigan State commit Joshua Ravensbergen in the WHL

Flint scored 4 in the 1st period, went 4/7 on power play. This game got nasty early, two fights before 5 min had been played (one ft an instigator to Anderson) and a 5 minute major to Noah Roberts (Sacred Heart)
