2025-26 Division III Women's Hockey

NCAA went straight seeding based on the NPI numbers and sets up 2 first round flights, potential for two more quarterfinal flights and potential for as many as three final four flights.

Guess we can say that for now, the NCAA is looking like they are going to pony up to allow for bracket integrity...if the men do the same, that's two years in a row on both sides.

Bracket
Side 1:
[ Plattsburgh at Williams] at River Falls
[Saint Benedict at Amherst] vs [Elmira at Augsburg]

Side 2:
[Endicott at Hamline] at Norwich
[Adrian at Wilkes] at Nazareth

I think this is River Falls' tourney to lose.

I count three flights in the first round:
Saint Benedict at Amherst
Elmira at Augsburg
Endicott at Hamline

And potentially three quarterfinal flights:
Plattsburgh/Williams at UW-River Falls
Saint Benedict/Amherst vs. Elmira/Augsburg
Endicott/Hamline at Norwich

I'm a little confused by this. The NCAA site bracket, and listings of the games, and the selection show have Williams hosting Plattsburgh. Which is a little surprising, but not unexpected as (despite the worse record) Williams is ranked higher than Plattsburgh. I don't envy either of these teams having to face down Rivers-Falls.

Williams has Plattsburgh beat in 2 out of the 3 criteria therefore higher NPI.

Does UWRF have to lose for Norwich to have a chance to host?
Yes. As long as a school has a facility that meets NCAA hosting requirements and said school actually put in a bid to host, the highest remaining seed amongst the four semifinalists will host the championship weekend.

And I know River Falls, Norwich, and Nazareth all have facilities that meet the requirements. And I'm sure the first two put in bids (I'm pretty sure Nazareth did, too.)

Sorry, my bad it was a typo when I reversed who was hosting.
Not a problem, I'm just trying to figure out which one of the 5 games I want to watch, and some are not streaming on easily available services. If Williams is hosting, as is Amherst, both games are on NSN and a coin flip as to which I want to watch more. I'm leaning more toward Mammoths / Bennies as I've not seen that team play before. I really don't think Williams has the goal tending or scoring to keep up with Plattsburgh.

I believe all NCAA hockey playoff games are being streamed live and free on ncaa.com. I know that is true for the men, so I got to believe it is true for the women.

They did this for D3 basketball as well, much to the happiness of fans.

If Plattsburgh gets by Williams would this be the first time Plattsburgh has ever come out west, after all the times western teams (GAC, UWRF, SNC, etc.) have gone out east?
