Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2025-2026

Did anyone else notice what happened after the team warm-ups. When the Badgers were leaving the ice, a couple of the players sat on the bench by 2 women that were sitting there not in uniform. (maybe Vasseur and Bickett) When the nets with all the practice pucks in them, were slid to the side of the rink for the Zamboni to come out, they threw maybe 15-20 more pucks on the ice toward the center face-off circle. The linesman/lineswoman and a Labahn staff person, had to scramble to get them all picked up before the Zamboni came out. I'm wondering if anyone knows the significance of that.

Yesterday was the first game I attended this year. Did anyone else notice what happened after the team warm-ups. That has happened a number of times this season; more so in the second half of the year? I haven't paid attention to who all participate, but Vasseur along with the two younger Gorbatenko sisters are usually sitting on the bench during warm-ups.

"Lagging" pucks in a "contest" to get closest to center ice is something players and support people will sometimes do, though much more often prior to the start of warm-ups, instead of after, when the Zamboni is coming out.

I assume that if the support people or "the refs' had a problem with it all, they'd say something. But doing this post-warmups is a new thing this year.

I believe lagging started when Enright was out last season.

I've asked TDM and Kendall to inquire of MJ as to the logic of Edwards playing D when they have 6 competent D. The thing lost in all of this is trading Edwards for Zillisch at F is silly. It's been sold that it was her decision to play D in the Olympics....whose calling the shot now? MJ has previously stated that he's not happy she's not playing F.

I remembered seeing an article a couple weeks ago that the WCHA final four games were going to be televised in Madison (picking up a telecast produced in the Twin Cities). I just dug up the article: they will be on something called "Television Wisconsin", the latest name for one of the "alternate" digital channels of WISC-3.

The games will be on channel 3.2 over the air and on channel 14 on Spectrum cable in Madison.
