BOSTON COLLEGE 2025 - 2026

Nothing against the people of Worcester BUT the Peoples Bank Arena is a much better venue for the Regional. Only a two hour drive to Hartford with better amenities.

Good OT road win/sweep. BC in 2nd place by 2 points and pushed Yukon down to 15th as of right now in NPI.

Man that first period was a clownshow.

The ice was terrible all game long and the 3 pm game after a 7 pm game the night before is 100% pure buffoonery.

Gasseau with another power move that led to the OT goal. Plus the faceoff win to start the OT; Yukon never touched the puck. Seems like BC never loses when Gustafsson scores.

Rumor is Jellvik is back practicing and will be back on Friday potentially for BU according to the BC hockey Blog livestream last night (nice job dad).

Minnetian chirping Richard in the box on the hot mic was riveting stuff. Even his chirping game is A+. One of my favorites over the course of watching this program for a long long time.

Cloutier made some big saves down the stretch!

Dean made a tremendous play to set up his own PPG, lifting the stick of a Yukon player who was diving and likely going to clear the puck out of the zone. It kept the puck in, went to Gustafsson at the point, down to Conmy in the corner, who sent it back to Dean for the goal. What a season for Dean. Legendary jump in production right up there with Chris Collins going off in 2005-2006 and maybe Cangelosi in 2015-2016. Both of those teams went to the FF.

With the head the head BC has like 3 point lead over Yukon.
After each period when the ice is clean a guy comes out with a tool to even out the puddles of water left by the zamboni.
As for DEAN I hope stays another year because I don't see Hagens staying after the season though I am not sure if he's ready for the NHL. Another big loss is Gasseau.
 
Man it's nice to win some games and feel good about sports again for a bit. BC hockey got some good results in February and we really needed to win that gold medal game today. The memes making fun of Canada are just priceless. One thing I saw mentioned on social media was how nice the Beanpot was as it gave these students something to enjoy for once as our athletic department has turned into one of the biggest dumpster fires in all of collegiate athletics.

Anyway, the PP has been clicking lately but I think some of the 5x5 production is not as high as it should be. Notably, Stiga only has 2 even strength goals this year with a goaltender in net and Conmy, while he has 8 goals, also only has 2 even strength goals with a goaltender in net as 4 of his goals are on the PP and he has 2 ENGs at EV strength. Conmy has been very good on the PP even from an assist standpoint and his assist on the Hagens hattie goal on Friday was huge. But 5 on 5... IDK. When you step back and see that the goaltending has been uneven (expected given that we just lost an all-time great), there have been considerable injuries to deal with this season, and some of these guys that we expected to rely on to take jumps in production haven't quite had a jump, I think you almost have to be ok with where they are all things considered.

Vote is a terrific player and has helped pick up the slack with 10 goals, Sondreal has been great as he has 7 goals and seems to be able to play well with anyone, and of course Dean has been an absolute equalizer with an incredible season that I don't think anyone reasonably expected.

If the reports are accurate and Jellvik will be back this weekend, finding viable line combinations with Jellvik back to get more even production and jump start Stiga in particular is going to be critical. Hemming and Jellvik are both LH shots so it's not an easy thing to figure out at this point.

NPI is at 12 and close to jumping to 10... need to limit turnovers and make some of these games easier Brown can maybe spread ice time a bit better and manage some guys and then possibly do some late game line tinkering.

I think Stiga has not stepped it up from last season. I was hoping for more this year but aside from the lack of production he tends to get injury prone when he gets checked hard into the boards. Lately his mistakes are a glaring weakness especially when it's a one and done deal. I don't think the Islanders thinks he's ready at this point of his career.
 
Stiga is a solid forward, not getting great opportunities, but it will come, he is too good a player not to be a contributor. Need to settle the lines down, it seems they have locked into the first two lines, if Jellevic comes back then GB will have some some line combos to think about. Hard to think the Jellevic will step right in after so many games have passed.

I think Jellvik would move onto the line in place of Michael Hagens and move Hagens back to D where he belongs. That would allow Greg Brown to discipline one Defenseman each game that may get them more in line. Of course, if someone is out that negates it.

I really thought that Stiga was a great bet for a huge sophomore breakout like Cam Atkinson. Unfortunately, I was very wrong about that and his season has been quite disappointing IMO.
 
Thinking about the last four games, this team should be focused and sharp as a razor. They're playing their arch rivals and looking to pay back the Huskies for the early horror shows early in the season. UMASS is looking to pay back the Eagles for recent games if BC is not ready.
 
It's tough to figure out what the lines will be if Jellvik does return. I will believe it when I see it.

This team certainly has issues but at the same time, they can play way better and we all know it. That's Greg Brown's job to figure that out and make it happen and earn his paycheck. So I can understand the reason for optimism and hope here as the team continues to add extremely talented pieces back into the lineup along the way.

As we all saw yesterday and know all too well from Matt Davis (and Jimmy Howard), good goaltending performances go a long way. BC could be a true wild card if they can keep raising their level of play and get Stiga going and get Beanpot-level goaltending from Cloutier. They are 85% likely in now. I remain extremely skeptical of the B1G and aside from dealing with the "red(-headed) menace" Carle and his Pioneers, I'd take my chances with almost the entire rest of the field.

Gotta take care of the puck. Very few teams out there have turnover problems like this program. It's a top-6 team in the country if they can get average goaltending and take care of the puck and top-4 if they get above-average goaltending and take care of the puck.

Faceoffs... ???? Will Moore is the only guy that has a higher than 50% win percentage there. As playoff games are approaching, Brown may need to figure out if he's the go-to guy for key faceoffs or if it remains Gasseau, who has been streaky since his return.

I think the issue for Stiga might be the line combinations. He is definitely way better than he has been playing. We need to use his speed and Resendes speed to stretch the ice. How’s that for a football analogy!

I looked at the current HEA standings, games played, and remaining games for each team to try to figure out BCs likely first round opponent (hoping it’s not BU). It looks like every team in the league plays 24 games except NU and UMass, who each play 25.

According to Uscho, NU has played 22 league games and has three remaining—two against Maine and one against us. UMass has played 21 league games and has four remaining—two against UConn, one against us and one against UNH.

How is that possible? It can’t be that those two teams get a free shot at 3 points relative to the rest of the league. What am I missing? It must be something totally stupid.

Either way I doubt it would impact bc directly but it could affect us indirectly in who we end up playing in the tourney. But I must be missing something.

NU and UMass played each other earlier in the year as an OoC game. If I recall correctly, the reason being was because NU was formerly scheduled to play a game this year against AIC, but then their program was shuttered so they had to make it up. For whatever reason they chose to do with UMA, and so they played an extra game OoC.
 
If i remember correctly, both UMass and NU had games scheduled with AIC. So playing each other OOC was the simplest solution when AIC canceled the season.

Well, this is awkward. BC/BU this weekend and there's so little hype.

Need to take as many points as possible this weekend to stay in the NCAA tournament picture and even move up potentially. BU has nothing to play for except ruining our season at this point. It would be crazy to let them do it.

Weeellll, not actually nothing. At this point, they need to play for a home game on the 11th. I know, I know. It's not much.
