BU Hockey '25-'26: Can we keep up the run to Vegas?

Would hosting a play in game possibly yield a record for low attendance for a men’s home hockey game? I’m not sure of the exact schedule, but would that end up being on a Tuesday or Wednesday while the students are on break?

Hey, we have no games this weekend. I miss Todd's "By the numbers - who's in, who's out?" thread. In the interest of full disclosure, I haven't looked at the standings. Are we at least in position to host a play-in game? Will no games this weekend help or hurt? Considering two of our last three regular season games are against BC, I'm not holding out much hope for winning those three games.
Scarlet, we are of a like mind! I asked about this on the UNH thread....We knew it was a BU guy that created the "Who's In/Who's Out" thread, but thought it was Sean Pickett? Carmine posted a link in the UNH thread to a "PlayoffStatus.Com" website that shows the probabilities for each team (sorry, I'm an old guy and not great about hyperlinking and such).
Not as great a read as Todd's thread, but interesting none the less.

Nope. A poster by the name of todd created that thread. Even when he started to wean off of posting, he still used to come here around this time to start that thread, but als, no more. When I see him at the game on the 27th, I'll let him know people were wondering where his thread was. :)

One piece of unfinished business from the weekend. That Cole Eiserman assist. It went nuclear on the socials. Did anyone else wonder where that type of creativity and fun has been all season? I know I did.

It's a 4-1 game. BU scores to make it 5-1 and then we get a 20 minute review (Perhaps a slight exaggeration. ). No goal. Which begs the question, if it took that long... (I sure wish the highlight package would show it so we can judge for ourselves.). And before you know it, it's 4-3. This team just can't put teams away.

4-5 more games. It's going to be an interesting off-season. Enjoy the Olympic hockey.

Honestly, as that assist was happening, I thought it was a result of a mistake and not planned. Like, he overskated it, then managed to make the pass though his feet and lucked out with a goal.

Whenever Eiserman passes you can be rest assured it was a mistake😁. The Islanders Twitter was showing it with all sorts of comments from fans saying they couldn’t wait for him to get there . Maybe only a few weeks away! He may end up as a better pro who knows. They also were playing up Bednarik but that might be a stretch. He seems to have one play/penalty every game that hurts the team.

I am enjoying the Olympic hockey. I get to see Terriers doing well.

So 7th place... Weee!
So, it is almost assured BU will not get into the top three spots in Hockey East. And, with UMass having two games in hand (on top of being three points ahead) it is unlikely the Terriers finish fourth.

BU can not finish in the bottom three either. What place do you envision the Terriers finish the regular season? Is there a team everyone would like to avoid in the win-and-advance game at Agganis?

Jeez, Macklin almost won it there right before the US scored. I would’ve bet money on him scoring, given the amazing Olympics he had. Fun - and stressful - game!

Considering the teams even or just-below BU in total points have played 2-3 games fewer it would be wise to assume BU drops from current spot in 4th to 5-6th before they play their next game. It is mathematically possible to fall to 7th during the “bye week” the Terriers are enjoying.

6th, 7th or 8th gets a home game in the play-in round March 11 and my guess is BU finishes 6-8th. 5th doesn’t have a play-in game but goes on the road to 4th in the quarters (quarters are March 14).

None of that contemplates significant movement in the last 3 games … a three game winning or losing streak could move BU out of the 6-8 tranche and into better or worse seeding.
7th after multiple weekend sweeps

I just turned on storm coverage on WBZ and they interviewed Aiden Celebrini - with many of his teammates behind him - in their full hockey gear outside Agganis. 😀 - Practice was not cancelled.

This is reminiscent of the 1978 Beanpot blizzard. I stayed for both games and followed a plow truck back to Newton. My buddy drove about 6 BU kids back to campus. Now that I’m a lot older, I wonder what the F I was thinking!

Looking forward to a couple of fun games this weekend. It would be great to honor a few of the Olympians from both schools this weekend!

Go Eagles!🦅
