Turns out it was a creative Bill Fitch moment while coaching the NBA expansion Cavs during the '70's, after he apparently tired of answering questions about his team's propensity for coming close but not quite closing the deal on a string of losses. Fitch would go on to coach the '81 Celtics to the Larry O'Brien trophy, and Larry Bird was a big fan. Here is a link to some of his other most notable moments when faced with a live mic (historically a Fitch strength):

It's either the start of Souza's "charm offensive 2.0" and/or the incestuous HEA alumni association rushing to his aid in a time of distress. Totally obnoxious, and something neither Corbett nor Lenihan would dare to say in a group of informed UNH fans. Doing so on a shared HEA broadcast which they would do from a position of cloaked neutrality is both disingenuous and patronizing. I always thought Corbett was a good guy. Not so sure now, seems like he's carrying water for a BU
program that's been enjoying piling up the points at UNH's expense over the last decade or so. In English football parlance ... Bernie and his bobo can go do one.
Interesting that the fans lost the power and influence of The Friends of UNH Hockey, but the UNH Alumni Association and the HEA whisper network default to supporting the status quo and a functionally incompetent coach in MS7.
I'm curious if UNH Hockey is nothing more than a pawn of tax payer funded bureaucrats pursuing job security and pensions.
