Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2025-2026

There is always money for a game changing transfer.
Big problem is the money allocated for a player that never plays due to a myriad of of issues.
From a GM viewpoint, I'd rather return Enright and not Vassuer. Zillisch has passed her on the depth chart as the extra F. One would think she'll get icetime in a couple weeks so we can get a 4 week look at what she can do. Sometimes all it takes is an opportunity to show Watts you can do, but usually on MJ's team that is just not the case.

Sunday hockey this weekend, and at 11am. Yuck. What a stupid time. Don't people think about the practicalities of eating? Will they have some brunch options?

I took my daughter to a women's BB game, the first one we've ever attended. They have reserved seating as well, and that was maybe 70% full. I did not know that, nor did any ushers point that out, so we ended up getting booted from where we were sitting, but we just slid down the row. The atmosphere was quiet in the first half, kinda weird compared to a women's hockey game, even with cheerleaders and the band being there. No one was yelling "Let's Go Red" but us. The 3rd Q UW got blitzed and the crowd didn't do much to help stem the tide. The big 4th Q comeback got the crowd going and the OT's were juiced. I just don't understand the lack of enthusiasm, even when UW was pulling away in the 2nd Q.

D & D got the call right, shockingly. Of course they also reviewed the most obvious goal of all time. They need to make the net looser and pad the inside more to make it easier to see it was a goal.

Hopefully, somehow, you are wrong on Picard.
Tiny bit of good news on Picard.

Yesterday (or Tuesday) was team photo day, and of course Picard was there and in uniform. But later a TikTok from Grace Bickett's account popped up while random scrolling, and a group of them are up on skates, and Pico is one of them. Not really skating; standing with a bit of movement across the ice. But still, Pico up on skates and moving a little. Better than crutches, in a cast, or absent altogether, etc.

MJ said in some interview or other that she could still "weeks away" (and we don't have all that many weeks left). But 'on skates' is a little encouraging.
She was on skates for the picture… she was pushed to the setup for the picture on a folding chair.
Unfortunately she will not play again this year and most likely is done with the sport.

NFL conference championship games, 2 PM and 5:30 PM (IIRC).
Why try and miss the playoff games? They are sold out, so the ticket revenue is locked in. Yes, they will miss out on some concession $$$. You can watch football and be at a hockey game these days with technology. You can listen to a football game while you are at a hockey game. You can record the football game. It could be a plausible reason for 11am, but that thinking is so 1990's.

Men's basketball at 3 PM in the KC, vs USC.

With Picard presumably out, can the younger Gorbatenko sisters suit up for a few games during the Olympics and retain redshirt status?

I know football players can play up to 4 games and retain redshirt but not sure what hockey rules are.

I recall MJ saying the younger Gorbotenko's were not going to play this year. Apparently they were not Olympic Insurance as we were speculating.

As far as Picard goes, we'll see tomorrow is she can skate or even walk and with what assistance.

As far as I know, football is the only one that allows playing yet retaining redshirt status. There was talk about allowing that for basketball, but as far as I know, thst never happened. If the sisters haven't played so far, they're not going to.

So, on the twitter page, it says that the "Senior Day" stuff will happen Saturday 30 minutes before game time; 12:30 PM. Warm-ups and final resurfacing of the ice takes at least 30 minutes, so that will get going by 12 PM or even earlier. I called the ticket office to ask if the doors would be opening earlier than that normal 12 PM time, to account for the extra 30 minutes of pre-game. They said no. That seems wrong to me, but who wants to get there before noon, and end up standing in the cold. I guess we'll see...

We generally get there about twenty minutes before the doors open and even then, we are well back in the line. Tomorrow seems like a very foolish day to stand in an outside line, so maybe we'll sacrifice not getting our usual seats.
I looked up the red-shirt rules for women's hockey the other day and learned that a general red shirt requires not skating in any games at all. A medical red shirt is different. As for the great Olympics void, Minnesota and OSU also lost several key players, especially OSU, but our goalie situation is still concerning. Rhyah has stellar credentials but no experience at the D1 level. Let the adventure begin!

The administration treats Labahn like some kind of pristine chapel with the access of a top secret nuclear facility.
Open the damn doors… let people in and allow them to see the damn place during the day… it’s more secure than Fort Knox and the head of the ushers or whoever he is thinks he’s controlling the nuclear codes the way he walks around there.
