BU Hockey '25-'26: Can we keep up the run to Vegas?

Shifting the discussion for a bit, I liked that Bob Motzko benched Eiserman for his incredibly sloppy no-look back pass that set up a game changing goal for the Swedes. I’d like to see a more of that at BU especially when very talented players play sloppy, careless hockey. Messages like that are very instructive and noticed by everyone on the bench.
So then he plays living in fear that if he makes one mistake he's on the bench. Is that how you want the team to play? Especially a player as emotional as Eiserman?

I'm a believer in building confidence and encouraging players to find the joy and passion for playing the sport and playing for each other. Get on 'em if they make an egregious mistake, but then encourage them to get out there and correct it.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

BU Hockey: New Semester, New Attitude?

OK, you got me. One person has him at #1. 15 others listed at Elite Prospects do not. If he exceeds expectations at BU (God, I hope...) he will move up others' rankings. This being a poor draft for centers will help him.

So I'll admit I was a bit too cynical on my first post about him. Of course I am excited about a top forward joining the team. My concern with this team has been more with the defense. Like Rogie alluded to, I expected the forwards to at least somewhat get their act together when they got healthy. Plus, freshmen forwards IMO tend to acclimate faster than freshmen defensemen. So that my main concern still exists is really the point I was trying to make. But hey if we blow them away with overwhelming offense despite some defensive liability, that works too.

I have been impressed with Tretheway’s development at D. I wasn’t impressed with him on the USNDTP and he started the year rough but has improved dramatically. Boumedienne was a turnover machine in the first half. Let’s hope that improves. Vass looks like a project with potential that is coming along. If we can roll two solid D pair then I think we are good if the offense clicks.

Did you watch Sweden at the World Juniors? The Boumedienne I saw was the guy we got the last 2 months of last season. I expect his play to improve in the second half. I mean, on paper BU has three of the top D in Hockey East. If paper turns into what they are capable of the team should have a strong second half.

I didn’t unfortunately. Boumedienne was amazing to end the season last year and I hope we get that player back.

BU Hockey: New Semester, New Attitude?
I already gave this post a thumbs up, but it needs to be featured over again.

He needs a big second half. The Bellows/Wahlstrom comp is spot on right now.
I actually was thinking of those same two names the other day without reading the post on here. Cole is certainly more talented at scoring goals than those two guys were. I think Cole has been rightly focused on rounding out his game, but I don't think his skill level for a cycling game is on par with most of his teammates. I think he will get his goals as the guys around him improve in the second half. But I think the odds of him being an NHL regular are not looking as good as they did after last season.

I expect the play of the forwards to improve in the second half, provided they stay healthy. Merrill was playing great hockey when he got hurt. Boisvert has admitted he wasn't himself even in the Northeastern game. Fondrk also apparently has healed up. Adding a player of Lawrence's caliber lets other guys slot into more appropriate slots. Bednarik and Svoboda are very valuable to this team but if they are playing in the top 6, we don't have the talent to go very far. I am also hoping that Murtagh finds consistency and breaks out. He has shown flashes.

Defense is trickier. This team has missed Willander immensely. Tretheway was certainly starting to improve with more ice time. I expect that Amico and Vass will also develop. But the key is Boumedienne. I think we have seen McCarthy's ceiling already. He is less error prone than he was in prior years, but he doesn't have that skill that 78 does. And Cole Hutson - tremendous skill, I just want to see him skate more with purpose. Too many turnovers and not enough hustle to cover his mistakes Lane was certainly susceptible to turnovers but man, he would skate as hard as he could to get back.

And oh yeah, we need Big Mike to look like he did last year.

Maybe Big Mike is only a 2nd semester only goalie? Let’s hope he continues to look like that.

I thought the team as a whole looked great tonight despite only putting 1 on the board. Fast, crisp passing, hustle - I thought maybe their best game of the year in many areas. That team will win a lot of hockey games.

I’m encouraged!

Only watched the third … better intensity at both ends…it was a Friday night game and they played well, that is progress.
None of that offsets the Dugout closing, was at a game in October, had I known would have stopped in and asked for a $1 Miller High Life for old times’ sake.

Giving up 0 is a huge improvement. Not blowing it in the last minute is huge improvement. Only taking one stupid penalty is a huge improvement. Winning most of their faceoffs is a huge improvement.

Now, score four goals tonight. Then I'll get encouraged.

They're 1-0 #NewSeason

I'm eager to see the new kid tonight from Section 118. (Alumni Band! Over 100 signed up!!)

BU Hockey: It's Go Time

The best Dugout story is the '78 team asking Jack Parker to stop at Marsh Plaza after the blizzard of 78 Beanpot win. You know, so the team could go to Mass. :ROFLMAO:

RIP Dugout.
