UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Public love letter to Drew: you were absolutely right. (For once.) Please make a similar prediction for tomorrow.

XOXO, Fishman.
How could he not now with the promise of more love from Fishman?

I mean if the smell of aqua velva and beer nut breath doesn’t close the deal then the chapped lips and lagger coated whiskers will.

🤣

Could’ve been 12-0. Also while Sully is bad on the draw, he's been playing some serious hockey lately
I loved the poise to coral the puck, then notice goalie go down and take that extra time to adjust and flip it up top. How many times have we seen a guy just whack at it and uselessly tap it into the only place the goalie is which is on the ice. Instead he had poise and let the goalie go down and scored an easy one up top. That is a sign of confidence too.

If he can somehow improve his face off win percentage he will be most improved player this season. Turning into something great.

I was actually quite impressive how well Maine responded to Lindenwood's attempts to play physical and not get rattled. How many times have we seen this group lose focus when challenged physically? They stayed composed and used those powerplays to really bury them, especially Poirier's goal late in the second. Lindenwood played better in the second but that goal completely changed the atmosphere and then the Lions never recovered in the third.

Pleasantly surprised with the contingent of Lindenwood fans last night. Chatted with a couple of them and were very nice. Traveled better than some of the teams in Hockey East lol.

Wonder which maine team shows up today.
Lindenwood isnt very good so the boys just need to be smart, think and play simple hockey. Stop with the D zone turn overs and get the puck out cleanly.
Couple goals should be fine.
Rooster in net I hope, it would be good to have a rotation.
Poirier did a great job last night of finding open ice and waiting for a good feed from his line mates. Keep it up.
Same lines hopefully.

A little change with lines.
Poirier, lipinski and margues.
Freel, scott, nadeau.

IDK think Porier and Josh together is a good mix, josh is good at setting up porier.

Maybe the play between Marques and Poirier on his second goal gave them the idea for the shuffle. Nice to see Lipinski back in the line up.

Don’t agree taking out James. He’s been good on the dot and checking well. Not rewarding his hard play. Especially with his size on a team bereft of it. Unless he’s hurt.

Seems like he was playing center and now Lipinski is in. Maybe they could have shifted James to the wing. I liked his physical play.

Secondary and tertiary scoring is going to be important for Maine down the stretch. IMO, I think splitting them up is more about hiding Freel who may be the least skilled player who regularly dresses. Guy is probably great in the locker room but doesn’t necessarily have a great fit on this year’s roster. Not a goal scorer, not real fast. Occasionally throws the body, but where do you put him? Marques is a goal scorer who’s been playing on a checking line most of the year.

Im not seeing much from lipinski, big guy but he reaches way to much and likes to get the puck off his stick. Sometimes makes a nice feed. Has some work to do with his gane.
