Utica University 2025-26 - The Road (back) To Utica

Nubs aside, good game tonight from both sides. Despite the shot totals I don’t think either team carried the play. Both teams are very average. Neither goalie particularly helped them out. Both sides I feel have some work to do. Neither of these teams are top 10 teams right now.
It was an entertaining game.

It's tough to beat perennial national powers in their own building
So true. A perennial power like St Norbert wouldn't have home losses to St Olaf MSOE and Concordia Wisconsin over the past 2 years. That would just be soooooo embarrassing. I mean the last time non-perennial power Utica lost a home game to a team that didn't make the tournament was all the way back in 2019.

Dubuque beat Adrian on the road last season. Lawrence just beat Aurora on the road last night. That's the NCHA. There are no nights off.

I think I can speak for all SNC fans (other than Sir Nubs) in saying that the perennial national power joke needs to die. SNC may have an arena full of banners to back up the claim, but they are reaching the point where they are no more a perennial national power than Middlebury.

At the same time, you can't fault SNC for playing in a conference with 10 teams that can all win on any given night in anyone's barn.

You're missing the joke...Utica fans were making that claim before they had won more than one NCAA game let alone championship. That deserves endless mocking.

The bigger joke however is you comparing St. Norbert to Middlebury. I didn't realize SNC had piled up a buffet of single digit win seasons in the last 15 years. Get a clue.

Fishman's claim was obviously BS but that joke ran its course long ago.

The complete list of "perennial national powers" as of 2025 is
  • Hobart
All Time D3 Champs(Top 5):
Middlebury. 8
Wisco SP. 6
St.Norbert. 5
Norwich. 4
Hobart. 3

Last Ten Years Champs(excludes Covid Years)
Hobart. 3
WSP. 2
St. Norbert. 2
Adrian. 1
Norwich. 1
Trinity. 1

As a Hobart fan I am in awe of the old Middlebury programs, as well as WSP, St.Norbert and Norwich. I know it is REALLY hard to win one as Hobart has had a few 1 goal and OT victories in the playoffs the last 3 years( last year's final). Although we are off to a good start, there are no guarantees and it's easy to have a bad luck game in the playoffs or have a key injury(Beaver is surrounded by cushions and armed guards) . I must say we're happy to return to the AUD if we earn a spot in the semis,Utica feels like home ice now:cool:
