Wisconsin Hockey 25-26 Hastings Year 3 - Turning the Corner?

i dont think Ove ever seen a hockey game woth more Grade A/Slot scoring chances. The save by Pulver at 11:48 in the 3rd was huge!

Still not happy with the 1st and 3rd period D, but they just beat #1 on their sheet. They can play with anyone. It jist comes down to execution on the ice and "can do".

Big win!

Wow, great win!!
  • Tough place/team to get your first start for Pulver but stopped 35 of 39 shots - I’ll take it.
  • Five goals against Augustine is astounding considering how good he’s been this season.
  • If Phelan did get hurt, and Horbach moved to D, it explains why Botterill was on the ice and scored the game winner.
  • I thought that Horbach played pretty well on D last year when he was forced to play their due to injuries - what a luxury to have a guy that is versatile enough to do that.
  • Hopefully Phelan is ready to go tomorrow - this D group is getting thin.
  • Montgomery is breaking out and I’m excited to see how he progresses as his frame fills out.
  • Goals from Dyck, Pietila, and Botterill is the kind of up-and-down the lineup production that this team will need to be successful - didn’t see much of that last season or the last half of Hastings first season.
  • Would love to see Bucky win third periods more often - you keep playing with fire you’re gonna get burned.
  • Not sure what to think of the Finley situation. Bucky names four captains (C and three A’s) and your best returning player isn’t one of them and he then gets moved down to the second line. In my experience, your teams play their best when their best player is also the team leader and it sure doesn’t appear to be the case with Finley. I hope that I’m reading into this wrong and would sure love to see him get rolling - I thought the two goals against Minnesota was going to be the spark.
  • Glad to see Stramel stay off the scoresheet other than an assist. I saw him in person at the Kwik Trip tournament a couple years ago and was really impressed by his size and athletic ability - unfortunately for Bucky, he looked like Tarzan and played like Jane.
  • I expect MSU to be better tonight and for Augustine to bounce back - strap it up boys, it’s gonna be a heavy game!!

MSU played terrible D. Open ice and lack of checking by Sparty . Gave 4 in the 2nd. Wow . Loved to see the such smooth quick steady passes and goals. We have not had an offense like this in multipe lines for decades. Team speed evident. Gear up boy's it's 99-2000 revisted. Just a hunch but yes.

Penn St looks like a paper tiger. Lost to the gophers lol
Well, PSU has Fink out long term, and they have 5 guys and their coach in Spengler cup.

They are talented, but I feel they have taken on too much this year.

I try not too poopoo any Big10 team as we have clearly seen the Badgers teams lose when on paper there was zero reason.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the Spengler Cup at the end of December? It looks like the PSU players played against Minnesota (besides Fink).

Even with Fink at the beginning of the year, PSU lost to Clarkson, needed OT to beat Long Island, and needed a goal with 22 seconds left to avoid going to OT against Stonehill.

We still don't really get the possession thing in OT, but a great pass from Fitzgerald to a belly sliding Dexheimer wraps it up. Sports Center goal. The good news is that tournament games won't go to 3 on 3.

This team is really coming together. They didn’t fold down 2 yesterday and tonight they played MSU tough from the jump.

MSU almost went Michigan in the 3rd with some of their hits but thankfully no-one got hurt.

What a fantastic start to the season. 10-2-2….
