It isn't the Cayman government or its central bank. It's all Cayman-domiciled funds that hold US Treasury debt as part of their investment strategies. They are hedging and leveraging with it, not trying to build some sort of strategic reserve.

Sure, why not? Any new car loan longer than 5-6 years is pretty much already a net loss to the consumer by the time you've factored in interest paid, asset depreciation, and all regular & unexpected maintenance costs not covered under warranty or insurance.

And if there's any season where it's clearly going to come down, it's the demand-heavy season where everyone is traveling everywhere and buying lots of food for big holiday meals and buying lots of presents for friends and family. That's just basic logic, guys.

That's why they are restricting movement via airlines- to keep demand down.
