Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2025-2026

Playing hurt had to have a lot to do with what we saw this weekend, especially in the case of Edwards. I overheard Potter telling one of the parents that she would be fine.

What is the story with Murphy? Did she do something egregious yesterday that I missed? Something off the ice?

In Todd we trust.

I wonder about the number of lower body injuries and whether the training staff is doing enough to prevent them. And if opponents are targeting players' legs and getting away with it.

Have we answered the definitive question as to who was sandbagging this weekend?
Clearly I was, UW dominated 5 of the 6 periods. That one bad period was one epically bad one for the ages and your team did not show any mercy. I'd rather lose to your team than TWSNBN.

Edwards is chasing her Olympic dream and doing what is asked of her. Wisconsin is supporting the endeavor. Can’t blame either one. Laila said “now the work begins” when she first got named to the national team, and she is still trying to make the Olympic team. I hope she just keeps working. That’s all she can do.

It would be interesting to hear USA Hockey explain the thought process. It seems to be two things? This is how you make room on team USA for Simms, and: a power play with 3 forwards, Laila on D with some minimal D experience, and an experienced D. Can’t help but wonder if Team USA is trying to make her into a power play specialist.

Problem with that is 2 things: if injuries to d corp at Olympics you are going to need her to step up huge defensively. Big ask. Number 2: historically she’s been a forward with big points and riding the confidence that comes with that. What will this prep experience do to her confidence? She needs to stay confident. How will she define success? I’ve heard Ambrose tak about this, I’m also thinking of Rattray in her 13th forward role. Remember how Rattray embraced and excelled at it, while Irwin had some fan on here relentlessly talking about how Irwin should be somewhere else?

Anyway long way to say…..the Edwards story is going to get a ton of attention in the coming months. This woman has delivered in every IIHF tourney I’ve ever seen her play. She won gold and was an impact player in the one that they had her on D. Do I have reservations about her on D? Yes. Do I think it takes a ton of humility for her to do this? Yes. but I have no choice but to trust the process and cheer for her. She probably has the right college coach at the right time for this moment. Imagine if she was in centralization while being given a new position. Just tough.

Anyway she’ll get it done. You’ll be fine Wisconsin don’t worry.

At least this weekend, with Potter out both games, and Ava Murphy out Saturday, having Laila play D wasn't a choice, it was a necessity.

Edwards is not a D. She's just not. She's barely a forward and that's only coz she can snipe. I can't sit there and watch her coasting all over the place, being out of position and chucking the puck to wherever.

Then she snipes that goal and it's like... YES! That's where she belongs. Where she fits and benefits us the most.

Have no idea what they think they see in her as a blueliner.

Didn't mind Harvey's penalty. She's got a mean streak in her too, but nowhere near #18.

Maybe my final time seeing some of these seniors play if I don't score playoff tix. I'll miss getting to see them play.

From what MJ said, it appears it's a USA Hockey thing for her to play D. She does coast too much for me too. I've been hoping the light goes on about skating through and not coasting to, but we're in the last year of seeing her, so it's probably not going to change much anymore. With all that, she is deceptively fast with those long powerful strides and has a heck of a shot.

KK's penalty was at a crucial time in the game. Blast 18 when the game is not in doubt. If the rodents get a PPG off of that, it might be another meltdown.

I'm sure you will be able to score some single game tickets against lesser opponents if the opposing team returns some. Otherwise you can post here you are interested and something might be available. Plus there's those 2ndary ticket markets.

I'd be pooping in my pants in a 3-2 US lead gold medal game on she's playing D in the last 10 minutes. She's probably the best F in college hockey, she deserves the right to play F on team USA. They need to park some old F pharts and get younger.

I think it was a choice Friday and a necessity Saturday. I think Jones played well enough in her first exposure to top end talent.

For what it is worth, Edwards played a lot of D in youth hockey.
That's interesting - I did not know that.

It's been eluded to here, but worth reiterating - she's deceptively quick - you don't expect her to be in the position she is when she's there. Straight up skate race - I think she's slower to accelerate - but the long strides help her stay in it a bit.

You're going to have games like that, look for it again in December! 😉😁
No, the results in game 2 make it pretty clear it was only a 1 period poopfest. I think the ladies were thinking about having fun on State Street on Halloween night and forgot they had a period to play yet.

He did heal Simms and Edwards, so there is that. :ROFLMAO:
He was back at the game Saturday, again sitting front row of 'the student section'. As the last few seconds of the third period wound down, I glanced over at where the can pyramid should have been, and there were only a handful of cans on the ledge. But when it came time for Venusio to skate over there, those few cans had somehow 'multiplied' into a full pyramid ...

She would win it every week.

Gurt!!!!! Tickets are available for the St. Cloud and BSU series. Buy now!!!!!!!!
I have a friend (and sometimes his wife) who can't get a season ticket, so I get single game tickets for him. This morning I was able to get both St Cloud games, and the Sunday Bemidji game, but the Saturday Bemidi sold out before i could get there. I went for St Cloud first, thinking 'senior day' would be the first to sell out. My mistake, I guess.
