UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

I feel a bit bad for Mannix cause he just gets too excited and it is annoying when he gets so loud. Has a high pitch piercing voice at times. Definitely miss Hannigan, he was exceptional.

Maybe they can use filters on Mannix to compress the high pitch moments and distort the frequency down so soften that piercing high pitch transitions. Mannix has a face for radio but the voice for newspaper yet somehow got the job.
Still way better than the nesn or espn guys who gush and drool over bu and bc.

In all fairness Mannix is prepared, knows the game but his voice and his intonation when he gets excited makes me mute it. Maybe its because I'm old, get off my lawn :)

since we are on tv things
The quality of the picture from Prov-Lowell preceding the Maine game was so much better
Is it part of it the lighting in the arena? it appeared not bright on tv

Touchdown and extra points against BU, always fun to see. Pretty intense series, great to see Rousseau get the victory, he deserved it, and great to see Bennie have the confidence in him to put him out there against the #5 team in the country. Of course, very impressed with Maines work ethic all game. Really liking what I am seeing from this group, both up front and on D. Its a long season, hopefully they maintain, what they now know, will give them success in the future.

Yeah, lights look a little dim to me too. But, as has been mentioned, no Mannix f'n screaming in my ear. Seriously why cant they put something on that guys mic that tones it down a few hundred decibels....geeezus it is annoying as all hell.

I’ve wondered if maybe there is something wrong with his mic. Even last night my wife was getting irritated when Boardman would get excited.

I really enjoy listening to Jim Connelly. He always has some really good information beyond the biographical stuff that any idiot with a computer can look up.

This is a strange thing to say when you concede five goals but I actually thought Maine did a good job last night of keeping BU to the outside in the offensive zone. BU clearly didn’t cover themselves in glory this weekend, and I’m sure Eiserman being out threw them off some, but full credit to Maine for really bringing it.

I’m excited for the series against UMass. For me this is best measuring stick of the first half. They’re obviously not as talented as BU but will play hard and be well organized.

BU has a great collection of draft picks.....good for them! Their team speed and goaltending was not up to snuff though.

My new Top 15:

1. Michigan State
2. Michigan
3. Penn State
4. Quinnipiac
5. Western Michigan
6. Denver
7. North Dakota
8. Maine
9. UMass
10. Minnesota Duluth
11. Northeastern
12. Wisconsin
13. St. Coud
14. UConn
15. BU

No doubt that Hockey East is down this year....especially at the top. Maine edges out UMass and Northeastern at this point. Might only be 3-4 teams in the NCAA Tourney. It's going to be important to finish top 2-3 in the league to have a decent shot of an at-large berth.

I agree that it's a down year for Hockey East so far and your probably right about only 3 or 4 HE teams making the NCAA tournament. Right now there is only 4 Hockey East teams above .500 and another 4 teams at .500 though it's still early in the season.

I think the top might be down some but middle and bottom is probably stronger than last year.

I was ready to fire everybody after the Stonehill game but against all odds, if these guys find a way to beat URI they may well make the playoffs

That one left a mark, yes.

A bad loss, considering what we've since then.

As an old POS, I usually refrain from commenting on this thread, but I can't help myself at times.

Three things:

1: Sweeping BU can't help but make me me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, no matter what.

2: Poirier's 1x3 goal was evocative of PK . Haven't seen that in years and years. Do whatever it takes to keep that warrior around. Give me 12 of him, and Maine wins every game this year. Every single game.

3. There's some oil leaking as far as the goaltending. Maine needs to address that, if it can.

Not complaining, mind you. This season is still wide open. I have confidence that Barr can make the necessary adjustments.

Almost considering going to the Mullins for the 5,00th time. Used to be an auto-win for Maine, but not any more. Maybe I'll sit on my ass at home and stream it, one never knows. Big games, no matter how you slice them, in any case.

I'm 99% sure there is something wrong with the mic. Mannix would be great if they mixed his audio properly. IMO, announcers should get excited about scoring chances, but the crackling in the audio is ear splitting.

The cameras could also use an upgrade. It looks like a LiveBarn feed out there.
