BU Hockey '25-'26: Can we keep up the run to Vegas?

Yeah it's about the defense in front of Big Mike I think. The rebounds were always a thing with him but they weren't as dangerous.

That said, they definitely played neck and neck tonight. Seemed much better than the MSU and UConn outings. They didn't seem to get pushed around as much.

We'll see how this team comes together after the holidays.

They should be dominating OT with their skill instead they are O-2-1 pathetic. Why can’t Pandolfo get his teams to play to start the season one of these years they won’t be able to work out of the hole. Back to having goalie issues thought we had solved that.

I think I agree but it seems to me a fair number of the shots going in aren’t rebounds but rather clean looks high glove side (especially MSU and the first Uconn game). The fact the other team is getting such clean looks is thanks to the D. The freshmen are still making a lot of mistakes like the turnover that led to Maine’s 3rd goal tonight. They actually looked much better tonight than last Friday though!

Yes, the defense has had its share of breakdowns, but at the end of the day you have an elite goalie to make the stops (most of them, not all) you need when the time comes. Let’s face it, Yegorov hasn’t been that guy most of the first month of the season. Hopefully he can get back to what we all saw last semester. If not, this team will ride .500 for a while.

It could be worse. At least we don’t look like BC right now!

Watched on delay. That was a hard one. Making some of the same mistakes, less blatantly. I agree Big Mike has not been the same so far. He had some great saves but the consistency is off. Let's hope he gets it back. Hard to demand much better in Orono.

Listened to Bernie and Linehan on the audio.
The whole night, Linehan said BU was leaving the weak side of the net vulnerable.
And there it was. . .

Definitely so. On tape delay I was stuck with the Maine announcers, so I didn't hear Linehan. But I was afraid of open weak side goals all night. Yegorovs best saves were thanks to his lateral movement and reach, but it was just a matter of time.

I just watched the highlights. Yes, the D is loose, but the goalie needs to be a lot better.

The first goal is a juicy rebound to the center of the ice. The third goal he's slow to move over and isn't square to the puck. The fourth goal ain't great either. He's not crisp, he's not attacking the puck.

Hutson's play on the game winner is criminal.

BU Hockey: Concerned

All the skaters on the team compete for playing time. Jay once said that if Max were on another D1 team, he'd be a starter. Maybe it's time to rotate keepers based on their earning starts in practices each week. A little competition never hurt anyone, and good players rise to the challenge. I do agree that last night Big Mike was hung out to dry by the continued weak side lack of defensive cover.
