Mike Johnson called us back from July 4 recess on 7/3 so he could gut Americans’ healthcare in the Big Ugly bill. Since then, he has only had the House in session for 19 of the subsequent 104 days. That’s how we ended up here.

It's official: Speaker Johnson just cancelled all votes in the House next week. The next scheduled voting day is 10/27; the last time the House was in session was 9/19.

They just continue to get what they want. They either get their budget the way they want it, or they get a shutdown which is what they dream of on a nightly bases. And this shutdown has the bonus of keeping a newly elected Democrat from being sworn in so progress can be made on the Epstein issue.
Republicans are all about winning and they are winning in spades. I bet they have toasts at dinner every time a rural hospital shuts down, or a family farm that sold soybeans to China is sold to a conglomerate after going bankrupt.
