Actually go back farther...Hitler did this with his Generals made them swear a new oath to the Nazi Regime as they all originally swore an oath to the Weimar Republic.

Kegseth knows this he responded to a tweet about it a few years back.

Allegedly it was a traffic stop, which ICE doesn't have authority to do. They've trumped up allegations that he's in the country illegally (his family moved here from Guyana when he was a kid, beyond that no clue if they filed paperwork correctly, but since he's had to clear several FBI background checks to get various licenses, i have my doubts about ICE's claims) and that he had a weapons charge 5 years ago. They also claim he has a removal order from last year, but until shown I'm skeptical of that.

The NYT found a charge from 2021 in PA that can be generously described as over-zealous. A game warden charged him for having a loaded firearm in a vehicle after approaching him while he was leaving the hunting area and he literally put the gun in the back seat while talking to the warden in an effort to show the warden he wasn't a threat. He pled guilty and paid a fine to make it go away.

This is bullshit, but the reactions from state Republicans are beyond despicable. The favorite to replace Reynolds as governor, Randy Feenstra (who represents the NW quarter in Congress, Steve King's former district), called him a "criminal illegal alien." No clue on the illegal immigrant part, but the "criminal" part is one of those things that's technically true but in reality is complete bullshit based on what's in the public record. Based on current publicly available evidence, he's no more a criminal than anyone who's gotten a speeding ticket.

Here's how bad local media has gotten. Despite being a national story, the Des Moines Register has wiped all stories about the superintendent off its front page. No followup stories since 8:00 last night.
 
I'm still reeling at the thought of a third-rate millionaire TV jounalist lecturing four-star combat veterans on "the warrior ethos" and shaving tips. I hope they give him a wedgie.
