St. Thomas making quick transition in Div I

Just thought it was newsworthy that St. Thomas men's hockey team was voted by the CCHA as the favorite to win the league title this year. Five years after beginning the transition to Div I.

Not completely surprising. St. Thomas was always a well-resourced institution located in a large city in comparison to what a majority of D3 schools have and exist in.

I believe they are building a rink, which will be a huge recruiting push for them too. maybe they are already in it?

Correct. I believe it opens this year, but maybe not right at the start of the season.

Well, and they’re entering the NCHC soon. That would certainly attract higher level recruits.
