The “Gen Z lashes out after social media ban” headlines are a complete smokescreen. A more honest framing would be “Young citizens abandoned and taken advantage of by their government eat the rich.”

But major outlets obviously can’t have that message spread.

Exactly. The group you can't mention is the group that really controls things.

Edit: I was wrong. It's not this really at all. Although I agree with you that the corporate media thinks it is and that's why they put LETHAL in every headline when the kids killed 5% of Gaza's daily murder count.

Look up: chakari, afno manche, natabad, crypabad, phariyabad, and hanumanbad. This is a fun primer.

Basically, Nepal makes India look like Norway. Corruption and sycophancy are pervasive in the culture, well beyond politics.

This is the way you get anything in Nepal: you find the richest and highest caste person you can. Then you bow and scrape and prostitute yourself for them for as many years as their whims dictate, if not life. And then, one day, they might give you table scraps, if the last of 100 brainless nephews has left anything. And all of this is considered absolutely normal and if you object on the basis of law or human dignity you, and everyone who will still talk to you, are shunned and punished in every social way, if not also legally.

I guess the keeeds decided they weren't going to spend their lives the way the last 12 generations of Nepalese have.

I would love to think this is about inequality or unemployment and the Nepalese Gen Z are seizing the means, but this is more of a social revolution than an economic revolution. My take is these kids would be perfectly happy to adopt some hardcore capitalist meritocracy if it was the rule of law. They just are sick of sucking up to crony corruption.

Their issues are not all that dissimilar to what is going on here only they have dealt with the corruption and disparity for generations and they are done with it. Social Media was how people were able to see how badly they were being screwed which is why it was shut off. That was the final straw so they burned the palace down. Difference here is they just chose to tune out instead of voting to send the message.

I have read some interesting articles about Gen Z and either they shift Right or their just not wanting to be part of it and it isn't usually ideological (obviously some are true believers in MAGA but not many) it is that they are tired of all of it. Their future is dead in this country...jobs are dying, cost of living is stupid, education is worthless and there is no real way to rise above your lot in life. They watched The Boomers get everything, Gen X work the system and get nothing, Millennials play the long game and get screwed by multiple bad economies and now they are getting it without any lube. They cant afford a home, they can't afford to live in most nice areas, they have no ability to save and neither party seems to honestly care because they got theirs. To Gen Z what is the point of fighting a losing battle?

Was in town at the start for a Docs appointment. Literally nothing but hooligans. Beer cans strewn all over the street, yelling at random passers by, catcalling women, every stereotype you can think of. I initially didn’t remember the march was happening and was wondering why there seemed to be a dickhead jamboree going on, then all the St George crosses started coming out and it all came back to me.

That's a lot of people that have been successfully convinced that the reason they don't have the life they want is brown people who ALSO don't have the life they want, and not wealth inequality. As long as we are punching sideways, we aren't punching up. It's all going to plan for someone.

They've all been reading online that London is full of 'no go zones' then they visited and created one.

From the photos I saw, there were stewards wearing hi-vis employed for crowd control. This being London, and stewarding being a casual minimum wage job, there was a lot of diversity among the stewards. Can you imagine having to work next to such a large crowd of bald, angry white racists, and trying to tell them where to walk? I hope they were OK.

Covid did seem to do irreparable damage to so many people's brains.

If these people all moved to America they’d be a lot happier and our GDP would jump by about 20%
 
I dont miss much about living In the uk, but goddamn i love their humor.

These are some dark times, and sometimes, you gotta seek out some humor

Nah, the Faragefuckers were educational failures and uncouth racists long before COVID.

They are the hayseed blokes and pinch-faced village barmaids of the Inbred Isle. The UK's equivalent of our trailer park dwellers and rural knucks, who ironically are mainly the descendants of the original ingident "waste people" the Brits shipped over here in the 18th century as indentured servants. Class mobility for all who work hard has long been America's great lie.
