College Football 2025

SEC is going to nine games. ACC says they'd like to go to nine as well, but they have a math problem that it's not possible with a 17 team conference. One solution put forward is to count games against ND as conference games.

The Andrew Luck GM era at Stanford begins with a loss to Hawaii.

Much like the SJSU game that ended last season, this season started with a lead late in the fourth and driving, and to throw a moronic interception and give the opponent the opening they needed to tie and then win. And then a Japanese kid who learned FG kicking from Youtube got the game winner as time ran out. Might be an 0-12 season!

Made me chuckle.

Ended up being a 16 play (15 runs, 1 pass) drive that indeed finished off the game. Buffalo used all three timeouts during it, to boot.

It's kind of funny sometimes that you have to remind yourself that these are still kids playing. Or the like stats. Game I'm watching, 4th and long, go for it- QB throws a really long INT. Just like a punt.

Should have dropped the ball, would have gotten you 30 yards of field position.

I have no idea what this is about.
Tulane requested to wear white jerseys at home to honor their 2005 team that had to play the entire year on the road because of Katrina. Even for their “home” games they had to wear white because it was the only jersey they took when the team evacuated. For whatever reason, Northwestern declined the request. Tulane went on to beat them 23-3.

I see. Personally I think it's a stupid rule the home team can't pick white without permission so long as they give the visiting team x # of days advance notice, but whatever that's not the rule...

...regardless of which if Tulane fans/players were really that upset they should get over it.

Tulane apparently requested it on 8/17, so about two weeks before. I think these things are generally asked for months before, but unless Northwestern didn’t have purple jerseys ready yet that still seems like enough time to switch up equipment plans.

I sometimes see the pros do this, too. Complete lack of situational awareness.

At least the pros have stat incentives on their contracts.

Although the college kids might now too...
That part is making us rethink some things we have in our plans. Kinda sad.

Not sure if it happened anywhere else, but the day after the agreement to pay the athletes some of the money universities get for athletics, we got a request for money.... Geezus. This from one of the top earners of all US colleges for athletics income.

Enough of that mini rant.

The other side reality is that retirement takes us away so much.....

The whole thing is dumb, but why would a team want to wear dark in the south in august? I just don’t see it as a big deal. Like I said, people who live in New Orleans should look in their glass shitty house

MSU did the same. On the hockey side they added scholarship fees to the seats, football doubled the parking fees (though I'm not sure that even goes to athletics). they partnered with a new concession group that offers more selection, but raised the prices on everything including what they were already selling beforehand.

I'm not sure where college sports will be in even five years, but it doesn't seem like a great direction. If the NCAA hadn't dragged their feet, NIL could've been implemented in a far more regulated manner. In a bit of irony, it's really only the top players utilizing NIL how it's supposed to be. Caitlin Clark didn't take a dime from the NIL collective, she made all her money on Gatorade, Comcast, and Nike. Livvy Dunne was the same with her endorsements, and I'm not sure if Arch Manning is taking from a Texas collective, but he's got a couple commercials of his own now. It's the other 99% that it's being blown up with pay-to-play deals through collectives, and now with revenue sharing it's all blown up.
