Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

All the winning.

Canada is seeing a "dramatic reduction" in imports of orange juice from Florida but that is to be expected, given the rising prices and the fact that the beverage was specifically targeted by our counter-tariffs, said Michael von Massow, a professor of food agriculture and resource economics at the University of Guelph in Ontario.

In other words, the marked drop in imports has been compounded by the ongoing consumer desire to buy Canadian, he said.

"We are probably seeing an effect here where just the American product is going up in price — which means that it's going down in demand — but there are other options on the shelf," von Massow told CBC News.

I'm sure Canadians are also specifically not buying much from Florida. Just saw a few reports about Canadians selling their properties in Florida- which has a massive economic impact since there were so many of them spending winters in Florida. Way more than Americans do.

While we still travel to Florida, we are doing our best to spend as little as possible there and also not travel to Texas. I'm pretty sure we are not very welcome in either state, anyway.

If this lasts until next year Florida's travel industry will be in serious trouble. Besides all the Canadians that vacation there a lot of ex pats own hotels and such that cater to their countrymen. They are already getting hit hard by all of this and they wont survive too many bad seasons.

I'm pretty sure MAGA will view this as a good thing. Less foreigners owning businesses instead of 'muricans! And the added inventory of rooms will in theory lower prices/create discounts.

They will be crying for domestic visitors and probably lower their rates to generate demand.

Who will? No one will be able to afford to be in the industry. Outside of Di$ney no one can handle the dropoff. I mean Vegas is in panic mode over a 20% drop and Florida is going to get hit way worse than that.

Not that I mind...outside of my Aunt who winters there I have no issue if the entire place falls in the ocean.

To most of the corporate entities that own property they don’t really care as long as they can keep getting the high paying whales to keep coming and spending money. They gave up on the normal consumers over a decade ago, in fact most industries have.

I sincerely doubt the majority of properties at risk are corporate owned.

But we aren't talking about the Wyndhams of the world...we are talking about the average Trumper Rube who relies on vacationers to survive.

Yeah and they will be empty too. They might be able to deal with it but the Florida economy wont.
And most of the wealthy don’t really care about the economy and us peons, in fact most of them want a recession so they can buy “distressed assets” like those hotels.

And because they control the media and the government, there is really no consequences for them crashing the economy.

Guess who's going to buy those at risk properties when they go under?
Honestly, that's what I believe is behind what is going on in the middle of the country. Lots of worshipers are losing their farms, and to who? Probably large corporations to control more of the food supply.
