The Hobart Statesmen return this season after retaining the Championship against the Utica Pioneers in a classic final with the winning goal scored in OT by Hobart's Fontana, a goal that was reposted by Gretzky on X simply saying "looks familiar". Can they Quadpeat?

So far no word on Morrissey or Duclair. Morrissey is a great passer and would be a great pickup, and Duclair is sooo fast , but hoping they both stay. Still lot's of time for potential roster movement , but Coach Taylor keeps the talent search active. Beaver is recovering well from off season leg surgery.

He did not play in the one game I saw in person in Saratoga last season. However, saw quite a few via webcast. This guy had an undisclosed bum leg last year!!! As one of the T Birds said to Danny (Travolta), "Zucco, You've got to be kidding me".

There have been four seasons played here in Troy since the year long suspension of the program. All the goalies (except the practice goalie) that have played here in those four seasons most likely had at least partial scholarships, possibly the new wave of payola these D1 here today gone tomorrow gigolos are getting these days and presumably two good legs.

In my opinion, not a damned one of them has been close to your guy and in saying that I couldn't care less what division the shooters are or what they are getting paid. Not quite as positive the same thing applies to your Saturday guy (the one I saw play in person last year), but, if anyone is as positive, they will get no argument from me.

Beaver's acrobatic sliding glove save in the Championship game was a classic(minute 8:45: https://youtu.be/NPVZQk4NIys) , and on a bum leg. Hopefully he will have no problem being healthy this season . If you love hockey, or just love sports, this 14 minute video is a must watch, it captures one of the best Championship games .....EVER, in any sport on any level. Congratulations to every player on the ice that night, it could easily have been Utica's game , especially with their OT shot that hit the post.

We were in Utica for all the games and the level of hockey was unbelievable. Hobart goalie was incredible all weekend especially in OT Sunday Night

At a time in College Sports where the headlines are dominated by NIL money and rules on how to pay athletes, its nice to see the excellence of academics rewarded for standout athletes ( Luke was selected as the Liberty Leagues standout scholar/athlete, and he will be missed, but he will be a success in life !)

Aquaro, who hails from Yardley, Pa., helped the Hobart ice hockey team to three straight NCAA Division III national championships. He graduated summa cum laude with a degree in economics in May. Aquaro is a three-time AHCA All-American Scholar and a three-time NEHC All-Academic selection. He is a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-America First-Team selection.

One of the top offensive threats in program history, Aquaro recorded 70 goals and 64 assists for 134 points in 111 career games. He ranks third on Hobart's all-time goals list, fourth in points and sixth in assists. Aquaro played in all 31 games in 2024-25, finishing second on the team in goals (16) and points (34). He scored the game-winning goal in overtime in the national quarterfinals and assisted on the game-tying goal in the national championship as the Statesmen went on to beat No. 6 Utica 2-1 in overtime. Aquaro scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 2024 national championship game, a 2-0 triumph over No. 3 Trinity. He is a two-time AHCA All-American (2023 1st team, 2025 2nd team) and earned a spot on the All-NEHC teams three times (1st team in 2023 & 2025, 3rd team in 2024). Aquaro was the NEHC Player of the Year and a finalist for the Sid Watson Award in 2023.

Aquaro served as team captain for the Statesmen this past season after serving as one of the squad's assistant captains as a junior. He was a member of the school's Finance Society while also representing Hobart hockey on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and serving as a student representative on the Statemen Athletic Association. He served as a volunteer with the Geneva Recreation Complex, the Geneva Youth Group, the Geneva Generals Hockey Organization in addition to participating as a volunteer for the HWS Day of Service.
