119th congress: must be at least 75 to chair a committee!

People love Republicans and voting for them cause they screw the other guy. And as long as the other guy gets screwed it doesn't matter if they get screwed as well.

There isn't anyway to beat that.

Medicaid is toast. If it even survives one more cycle will be shocking. And good luck farming communities ever getting a hospital or a nursing home again.

Congress is about to give her billions to beef up her Gestapo. I expect her next round of plastic surgery will be extensive!

Welp.
Elon Musk again blasted President Trump's signature spending bill Monday as the Senate worked through a marathon amendment session to send the measure to the Oval Office by July 4.

The relationship between Trump and Musk — once a ubiquitous figure in the White House and at DOGE — imploded over the president's "Big Beautiful Bill."
  • "It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!" Musk wrote on his social media site X.
  • "Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people," the world's richest man added.
In a separate post, Musk doubled down on his rhetoric, saying every member of Congress who votes to pass the bill should "hang their head in shame."
  • "[T]hey will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth," Musk said.
  • In a post later Monday, Musk said, "If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day."

there is enough money getting pulled from the economy in this bill in just the impact to nursing homes alone to cause issues. 27% of facilities said they would have to close if this passes. Most said they would reduce their Medicaid population. The vast majority said there would be staffing cuts. They employ like 1.3 million people in some capacity.

The knock on effects here are going to be incredible.

We truly live in the nicest third world country.

Can't wait for my 90 year old grandma in a home with dementia to pick up a 20 hour shift to pay for her medicaid.

That’s why they are Introducing work requirements for Medicaid. Everyone who has lost tbeir job and many that will, are going to be extra screwed. Just work!! They scream as unemployment piles up

Which is why the GOP is trying to bribe states with lesser cuts to Medicaid. South Dakota would be bankrupt if there is a nursing home crisis/Medicaid cuts.

At least in a state like Minnesota Unemployment can help somewhat...imagine living in a Red State.

The GOP is going for broke...if this isn't enough to wake people up there is no hope.

Whats sad is, Mamdani winning in NYC should be a harbinger that things are changing...but since the Dems and the media are openly trying to destroy him (and the DOJ and President want to deport him) I think it might be a harbinger the wrong way.

No, they expect you to take care of her.
This is exactly correct. Religious conservatives are obsessed with the Latin American model of multiple generations living under one roof, with the working age family members caring for everyone else. Like an old episode of Dallas, sans the sprawling ranch and billion dollar bank accounts.
