UNH 2025 Offseason: Where in the World is MS7?

Once again, good news for UNH as Ruth White won Womens outdoor track Athlete of the year in America East. Not bad for a freshman
It figures that the only thing to celebrate in the UNH athletic department came from Orono, Maine. And they say we are never nice to them. They should be thankful, and even give us free snacks at the Whitemore from now on.

I do not buy that UConn is a "much bigger" win for UMaine fans than a win over UNH. Despite much investment and hype their program just isn't that much further ahead than the hapless team from Durham. And that is nothing to speak of the historic rivalry between UNH and UMaine.
I didn't even mention Maine fans until a later post....and yes many older Maine fans consider UNH a big rival and big win. As it relates to the UMaine program in 2025 though....UMass and UConn are absolutely bigger games and bigger wins in the grand scheme of things. I know that doesn't fit everyone's hype narrative but that's the way I see it.

We also celebrated UNH first-year Jayden Buckrell’s (Collingwood, Ontario) NCAA National Championship in Men’s Slalom (that is in alpine skiing) in March 2025. 🙂

Thankful for an athlete in a sport nobody cares about except friends and family? We bow down...

Nobody cares about hockey either, if ain't football and BBall, forget about it
Sure, college hockey is a niche sport, but it garners way more interest than the 50-yard dash or hurling a discus. But again, thanks for sending what's-her-name down.

Not true if comparing ESPN's coverage of the two sports. Granted the field sports were somewhat an afterthought but the track events, qualifying heats included, were prime time front and center on either ESPN or the deuce. No coverage relegated to the U or News.

Also, they measure distance in meters not yards and the shortest race is the 100 :)

"We have our big weekend series against UConn circled on the calendar", said no Hockey East head coach, ever

1 meter = 1.094 yards. 🙂

I agree. I'll let the snack bar manager know to save the 3rd period hot dogs for you and beta boy. You know the ones with the gray and green tint on them. Nothing but the best for you champ.

Is UNH opting in? Any news of their decision?
No idea. 🤷‍♀️

Once upon a time, we used to have these things called sports reporters. Then, everyone who used to do that became stenographers, just copying whatever press release(s) a program might release. It was easier "work", gave them more time to golf, hunt and/or fish. I'm sure UNH will let us know in a month or so.

Be thankful you folks still have the Bangor Daily News actually trying to gather info and break stories about the U ...

UNH add any NHL draft picks this past week? No? Why not?

UNH 12th all-time in Div 1 for NHL draft pics with 43, ahead of Maine at 21st with 26. BU 4th with 56: BC 6th with 53, PC 10th with 48.
