Age Snives! I don’t believe that anyone of this large class qualified as all are 21+. A couple of them will come in as having been drafted in past years.

Hey Dan fwiw dept I see UNH field hockey is playing Miami (OH) this season out there...
Carry on.
I believe Player and Fitzgerald both received invites to camps.MacDonald (TBL) and Plandowski (DET) were 5th-Round selections. I believe those two will join R. MacPherson (PHI, 6th) as the only drafted Wildcats on the roster for 2025-26 (unless Sebastian Bradshaw (DAL, 7th) makes the jump after all)...
Bradshaw is the only Wildcat/Recruit who I've seen on a development camp roster thus far.
Both are in Devils' development camp (Fitzie's dad IIRC is the NJD GM), along with former UNH d-man Luke Reid.I believe Player and Fitzgerald both received invites to camps.
Damned it if know? I put out some feelers with old sources this weekend, but they haven't been "in the building" for years, and they haven't the foggiest. Just reading the tea leaves, I've been reading Jim Tortorella's presence as Director of Hockey Operations since last season as meaning more than him just being a pretty face (lol) cashing a paycheck to round out the layers of admin between the AD and MS7. I suspect he's there to run the players' budget IF there is one ... but truth be told, that's nothing more than a guess, and it's frankly embarrassing there is no local sports media actively searching for this important nugget of information. Is UNH opting in or out?
The deadline is tonight at midnight, I believe. I looked at sea coast online that displays Portsmouth Herald and the big story on the front page is “UNH president seeks $17.5 million more in cuts to offset lost funds”. Not a good sign if you combine that and the fact that there is no mention of it in the news anywhere it seems. I imagine if it were good news then it would have been release in celebratory fashion by the AD and potentially quotes from Souza to get positive publicity. Strange there is nothing at all, my guess is this might mean they don’t want to draw attention to them opting out.Damned it if know? I honestly cannot figure out why JT was hired, if UNH wasn't at least considering opting in, leaving its options open ... but that deadline is soon upon us, right?
Welcome to the world of UNH Athletics in the 21st century. Even the news of the $20M renovation funding seemed like an afterthought when it came out a few weeks ago (6/5/25, Post #756 on this very thread, referencing a UNH Athletics marketing e-mail), with no ceremony or statewide media coverage. I honestly do believe those folks exist in a bubble where nothing else matters, and they don't give a toss about public relations. I don't blame you for assuming how they might have handled things, but you would have been wrong. I was reminded of that when I tried unsuccessfully to Google/Bing the announcement myself, and of course, it doesn't exist, except for a reference back to this board, and to this very thread. That's what passes for "positive publicity" at UNH these days I guess lol.The deadline is tonight at midnight, I believe. Opting in (or out) is a year-to-year thing over the next 10. It ain't for life...Damned it if know? The follow-up question, I'd think, is if a program "opts in", are you obligated to spend a certain minimum amount, or are you just preserving an option to pay?Opting in (or out) is a year-to-year thing over the next 10. It ain't for life...
My money is on opting out...at least for now. No college bound athlete will be coming to UNH (or Maine, for that matter), expecting a big payday
Fitzgerald is at San Jose camp. Both are in Devils' development camp (Fitzie's dad IIRC is the NJD GM), along with former UNH d-man Luke Reid.
There is no obligation to spend the money, it is just an option. What remains unclear is if schools opting-in in future years retain the "designated student athlete" clause to ease in the roster limits. The follow-up question, I'd think, is if a program "opts in", are you obligated to spend a certain minimum amount, or are you just preserving an option to pay?
Behind a paywall. What is the date? The Granite State News Collaborative has similar republished(?) articles from May, before the NH state budget was signed into law, Those articles refer to a $17.5 million federal research funding cut and a cap on indirect costs. If alternative funding is not found then research projects may be cut and "indirect" cost revenue loss might result in layoffs in the departments conducting research. Hopefully, at least in the near term, this money is viewed as being separate from athletics because it is. A law suit has been filed against the National Science Foundation so the cuts may not be permanent. Then again, maybe they will be in which case UNH and a lot of other universities will have some serious thinking to do.The deadline is tonight at midnight, I believe. Speaking of Connor Hasley, I still do not understand why he left Bentley to share duties with another goaltender at Penn State for his senior year, after getting nearly all the minutes in net this past season and keeping the Falcons close until late in the third at their first-ever NCAA game against the No. 1 Eagles in Manchvegas. No UNH'ers on the list of 25 at Red Wings development camp this week, but the goalie from Bentley (Hasley) plus the Viking kid from UConn both got free agent invites to camp, and the Keenan kid from UMass will be there as a mid-round pick from a couple years back, all three likely being longshots for future NHL play.
