Wisconsin Badger 2025 Offseason

Write up on all 10 of the new players set to join the team this fall. Does this mean we are done with CHL players for this year? Honestly, I’d love to see us get CHL players commited for the 26-27 season:

I can’t help but be excited. Seems like a good group of recruits.

BC, W Michigan, Lake St in the Kwik Trip Holiday faceoff. Wow.
Ordered. Great slate of teams this year (although many will be at world juniors). But still and I have enjoyed the first 3 years. It's costly, but works out to $25/ticket/game in section 106 (one off of center).

We sit at top of the lower bowl and enjoy those seats.

Of note regarding holiday faceoff: with the NCAA sending a team to the Spengler cup (which I admittedly know very little of) combined with world juniors, roster availability
could get funky for the tournament. BC will certainly send players to world juniors and probably have a few at the Spengler cup as well. I don't think Western has any players likely going to world juniors but could certainly send some players to the Spengler cup. Badgers will definitely be down Hensler (world juniors), and Finley seems like a guy who would be picked for the Spengler cup.

I'm not sure if players can opt in/out of Spengler cup participation? I'm sure it will sort itself out, but we could potentially see teams down significant impact players for the Holiday Faceoff.

I read a great long form article about Montgomery, I can't recall the source. It made me pretty excited to see him at UW.
Saw an interesting tidbit about Montgomery in a bio. He has trained in off season workouts with Lacy Eden. Both being from Annapolis, Maryland.

Listened to NHL prospect radio this am and they said a lot of nice things about Hensler, which is expected due to him being highly rated, but it was they don't pull punches either. Interestingly the ECAC is a big sponsor of the show now.

College Puck NXT has the Fr class ranked 18th for what that is worth. The transfer class is unranked, not shocking.
I just hope Hastings and Knott have it figured out for what they need at Wisconsin versus Mankato. I trust they do, but this year is critical for improvement.
