Dont forget the big check ncaa gets from the well in advance planned host.

It's up to the NCAA or whatever self governing body we get moving forward to set the regional venue criteria. It will be up to the school to find a venue to make it work. Most schools will have a list of venues they could host at. We already have Thursday games, so there is some flexibility in the schedule.
 
Jaden Lipinski 6'4 center from the Vancouver Giants commits to Maine. 4th round pick by Calgary in 2023.

He played 3 AHL games, not sure how that works eligibility wise.

I like the look of this pickup, guy with size up front is always nice. Assuming he is eligible, maybe it was some sort of tryout contract and not actually paying him a salary?

EDIT: Also looks like he went 58.2% on face-offs in the WHL regular season, I love to see that.

He was on an ATO so eligibility should be fine. But I also assumed Duda was good to go so what do I know?
 
Just taking HE barns, there are 5 with capacities above 6,000, to purposely draw a line over the Alfond (which I actually believe should be big enough). So let's say Maine is a 1 seed, but Alfond isn't big enough. It's likely that the 5 large rinks (UMass, BC, UHN, BU, & Lowell) would have blacked out the regional dates. As a Maine fan, would you rather "host" at Mullins, the Whitt, or Lawler - or - would you rather travel to the #2 in the bracket UND, Minny, Wisco, Duluth?? My point with this has been that if a school's barn is deemed too small, that is a known that can be dealt with in advance. And Maine wouldn't have to only look at Portland, for example. UConn could consider Hartford, but they could also have a conversation with UMass, who would likely be keeping their barn empty just in case. Again - these are conversations that can happen years in advance. Personally, I'd 100% rather host at any of the large HE rinks than have to go through what we just did in Pennsylvania. Wouldn't you?? And in case you missed it, I do believe Alfond should be considered large enough for a Regional - especially if they go back to single-game tickets. Yes, it's great to go to two games the first night, but that would require setting the floor higher. I'd rather keep the minimum size as small as possible to include as many home barns as possible. Just one knucklehead's opinion.
 
I don't think that they are going to top seeds hosting then eliminate 75% of the home arenas right off the bat with a 6K minimum seating capacity. That makes little sense.
 
NCHC schedules are all out, and a chunk of the CCHA also released theirs today. It's looking like unless there are some B1G matchups lurking, Maine's schedule OoC will once again mostly consist of the ECAC & AHA, aside from the return trip to Denver.

Keeps the travel expenses low taking bus vs. flying.
 
Denver and QU will keep the OOC schedule strong. QU isn't confirmed but they play nearly every year.

I'm calling my shot: Dartmouth, Holy Cross, and LIU round out the schedule

I think it has more to do with the Aflond/Walsh Center renovation. They probably want to ensure that everything is complete before they schedule any of the bluechip programs. And they really couldn't start any H & Hs on the road because they already have the road series at Denver & Q.

There are many Eastern teams that have big home series this coming season: Western Michigan @ Lowell, Michigan State @ BU, Michigan @ Providence, Michigan @ Harvard and North Dakota @ Clarkson.

I feared it would be ignored, and you proved me right. I said Alfond should be big enough, in my opinion. There are 21 arenas at 5,000+. Since 2010, 16 of those teams have been Regional #1's - 11 of them multiple times. In other words, most Regionals would naturally fall in 5,000+ arenas. And I really don't believe it is hard for those below the threshold to have conversations in advance. I certainly don't believe it is unreasonable. And I absolutely believe coaches of #1's would rather host at a reasonably friendly conference arena than travel to where they are guaranteed to not have a home-rink advantage in too many cases.

Barrs a smart guy, after a good season go to the AD with some wants. Hard to say no right now.

I have wondered and too lazy to research it, does ncaa limit a hockey program staff, other than coaches. Could a school in theory have any number of analysts, statisticians, trainers, dieticians, etc?

Can have 4 total coaches, which is where they are at now. This is likely an indication one of the current assistant coaches is moving on. Since Eric Soltys is in charge of recruiting, it seems he is moving on if they are bringing in another coach that is known for recruiting. The only way it would seem he wouldn’t be doing this is if O’Connor is interested in the hockey operations side of this. Then this could mean Nick Fonzi is moving on. It appears as though O’Connor was doing both assistant coaching and player scouting for Mt. Saint Charles.
 
America East Baseball Playoffs will take place this week in Orono at Mahaney Diamond starting at 1 pm est on this Wednesday the 21st. https://americaeast.com/tournaments/?id=4318

Will go Wednesday through Saturday until the American East Champion is crowned.

Love to see Maine have some success, but they’re not exactly gliding into the playoffs on the wings of victory after winning 1 of their last 9 games.
