2025 Bracketology: The Road to Utica!

If that’s the case, not sure why Utica even gets to host.

Curry chose not to bid because they didn't feel they could provide a championship caliber student athlete experience, and even the Nexus would outdo Hobart's open-air rink if they bid. I don't know if Geneseo bid but if they did their proposal was deemed to be judged inferior.

I was referring to the Nexus NOT being Utica’s (the team) home rink. That disqualified it, according to the NCAa rules.

This tracks with what I'm hearing which is that the MASL indoor soccer can't move their games and all three games will be at the Nexus Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
The Aud is the Aud and the Nexus Center in the Nexus Center. If they allow the games at the Nexus Center, what would stop a team like Hobart from making an agreement with RIT to hold the games at Ritter and put in a bid to host? The rule has always been your home ice you play your games on.

Call Charlie then and complain, what do you want them to do?

I asked HWS if we could bid using RIT or Canisius rinks and they said we wouldn't bother investigating because it is going West this year. Who knew it would be 4 Eastern teams. I wonder if they recalculated the NPI after this weekend, because I think Hobart would edge out Curry by adding Trine to the SOS calculation?

NPI doesn’t get recalculated once the playoffs begin. The seeds are the seeds.

If Utica indeed only bid using the Aud, this does seem to be a break away from what the rules have been in the past about what you can and can’t bid with.

If I’m Hobart I’m a little ripped if they have asked if they could use a different arena before and been told no so they didn’t even bother.

Sugar also reported that Aurora bid using Ridder Arena (not their home rink), which if true is NOT what has been allowed in the past. It’s also nearly 6 hours away from campus. I’m still skeptical of the legitimacy of that whole thing though as none of that seems to make a whole lot of sense to me.

It's going to be at Nexus. At least on Friday (still don't know about Sunday). Heard it directly from a coach who was told where they were playing.

I'm wth WCHornet. This whole process this year was assinine. If Utica did not meet the criteria, it should have been at Geneseo. Period.

The process is in place so everybody knows what they have to do and whether they should bother. Changing them on the fly screws those teams who might have been able to make alternate type of bids.

On top of that, you now have the home team which could have sold 4,000 tickets but will now sell 1,200. When you could have had a home team selling 1,800 tickets.

If Nexus was normally the home rink, no problem, despite the capacity, because that would fit the process. But they are not. So, the whole things looks as stupid as stupid is.

A pox on your house NCAA.

Sorry if you don't like the complaint, but Plattsburgh got screwed out of a home qtr final game a few years back because the womens final four was there. The games were not an issue, they wouldn't let practices be at a different arena. There seems to be rules for Utica and rules for everyone else if the games are not at the Aud. Even Pres seems to think there is a variant from the rules used in the past.

This is 100 percent not the norm or what was used for protocol in the past. You’re exactly correct about Plattsburgh men having to go to Trinity rather than host because Platty had the women. And you’re right, they worked it out that all games could be at Stafford and make it work, but NCAA wouldn’t budge on some of the practices being held at a different arena.

So if it's at Nexus, what is the capacity , and when do they start selling tickets?I know the "visiting teams" get an allotment , how many?I think Hobart will have a lot of fan interest given the proximity , so knowing when availability is, and process is important. So far, no announcement on ticket process , and we're five days from the game.

I heard 1,200. (It is 1,200. There's actually three rinks, though one is usually always a turf field for the indoor soccer team to use as their practice field. The main rink has the 1,200 capacity plus luxury boxes.)

I would seriously go through your alumni office/contacts. The schools are responsible for their ticket allotment. That might be the only way you get one.

There is a conference call tomorrow AM and I'm sure HWS will get the information out about their allotment as soon as possible.

Mackenzie is one of the best in the business and he'll get the information out there. IIRC, I believe the rule used to be either 200 tickets to each school at least 15 percent of capacity (180 would be 15 percent of 1200). But, given how things have gone, I'm unsure how many of the rules that were in place three years ago when I was still working in this area of things are still in place.
