University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Boija announced as a finalist for the Richter along with Fowler, Augustine and Tracy. Not sure I can recall seeing four finalists before?

Also, somehow Barr doesn't win COTY. Coaches gave it to Cavanaugh instead.
Augustine is a peculiar inclusion. He has the worst GAA and SV% of the 4. If he was facing more shots on a bum team, I would get it. But MSU is as solid a team as there is. I would personally vote Tracy, Fowler, Boija, Augustine

So Maine got 2nd place in HE with no players and no coach. Okay..........
UConn picked to finish 8th, finishes 4th this season = COTY for Cavanaugh
Maine picked to finish 9th, finishes 3rd last season ≠ COTY for Barr

I know it's not just a "worst to first" award but I legit have no idea what criteria the coaches use.

Drawing it out of a hat? Dart throws? Spinning a wheel? Any of these wouldn't surprise me at this point.

Just snagged a ticket for Friday night thru the email the UMaine athletic department sent me for $30 all in. Awesome deal!

Im watching them, waiting to see what happens thursday. So far alot are open in upper balcony. Nothing but singles down lower. Looks like they got another balcony section to offer up.
If they win hoping we can get tickets for friday.

They posted on Instagram that they practiced at Warrior Ice Arena today, so they are certainly already in Mass today. As for the exact travel/practice plan who knows.

Makes about as much sense as the weekly coach's poll. (To wit, none.) But, as I've said maybe 5,000 times, nobody takes those things seriously.

I've spoken at length with a couple of D-1 coaches who told me that they had their trainers (or some other ancillary guy) fill-out their ballots.

Again, nobody cares. It's a silly beauty contest. Let's see what Maine does on the ice.

Getting close, nerves starting to tingle. Hope boys had the walk thru, get a little nap, some chow and then get ready to rumble.

This is what we waited for all season and hoped the position Maine would be in before the season started! Hopefully the team got the star struck to be playing where the NHL does out of their system and get to work. Hard long grueling heavy play to wear on Northeastern.

Well then, it’s only natural to get a MAINE gooooooo Blue chant going!
Did last year, a little more sedate crowd this year in my car anyway. Maybe when we unload at north station would be cool.
Lol, last year the train sold out of beer by the time we hit NH.

Checking in from the Garden, seen a lot of Maine fans already. About what I expected so far for BU fans, solid, but I have to admit I've seen a lot more UConn fans than I anticipated. Not a ton of NU fans yet that I've seen, but I expect that will change significantly leading into our game.
