2024-25: D3whky

Plattsburgh takes the SUNYAC with a 2-0 shutout in one of the more violent free for alls I've seen including punches thrown.

Unfortunately for the Lakers it looks like the math might do them in for an at large.

In other news former Cardinal Rivers Morris puts Endicott over Curry in OT to give the Gulls the CNE autobid.

Oz is now ninth in NPI. Will come down to the wire.

Gusties fall in OT. GAC was the better team. Goaltending the difference as it usually is. Augsburg freshman goalie Simonson is an absolute beast. In a bit of a surprise, GAC falls all the way to #7.

I wonder if Oswego had replaced the 2 drubbings of Manhattanville with someone like Colby, Bowdoin or Nazareth if things would be different.

After the massive lift of replacing their graduating class, getting those two games replaced with a ranked team should be the next highest priority.

I also feel home losses are weighed far too heavily. Any smart coach would schedule ranked teams away because the win helps out so much and the loss doesn't hurt as much whereas home games doesn't have as much reward for a win and a much larger penalty for a loss. If teams are willing to lose home ice advantage for a ranked matchup because of math the math needs to be fixed

The fact this whole thing is decided by math is a joke to some extent. It’s impossible in a sport with such financial limitations to plug it into a calculator

Were you following the league back when the at larges were decided by people? People hated that too and it was even more unfair because the committee never had to explain themselves
I was. It's much more unfair now. Could use some actual brains using these because data ALONE DOES NOT WORK in this sport. No one plays each other.

The math is fine from a regional perspective, I wish they'd address the number of teams they let in per conference. You cap it at two teams per conference, Oswego is in and Colby is out. To me it's more fair in my opinion to all the conferences and would help eliminate any SOS bias. This year however, with Colby sweeping Amherst and Middlebury during the regular season hard to say they're not deserving of a spot.
