MLB 2020: We'll Play Ball, I Guess.

Spring Training starts Feb. 17th. Excited to see if they can get in a full season this year.

I'd love to see them cut the season down, permanently. There was talk about returning to 154 but I'd love a more dramatic cut back to say 120. Make games more meaningful, get rid of interleague. Generally speaking, return the sport to around 1965.

Instead of making the season 120 just go back to fewer playoff teams (2 or 4). Then games are meaningful.

I think the problem is that there is such a separation between the top 5 teams and the rest of the league most years... That's why you end up with "meaningless" games after Aug. 1...

I have always thought a reduction to 150 games makes sense. It would allow them to start the playoffs 2 weeks earlier than they currently do. I doubt they're ever going to reduce how many teams make the playoffs, although reducing regular season games is a pipe dream too tbh.

It is... It's a loss of revenue for the teams.... They will give up 5-20 home dates, which are almost always pure profit.

150 regular season games would be 6 lost home games if the playoffs remained as they are. 75 vs. the current 81 would be a drop in the bucket but it's never going to happen likely.

Believe me, if I had my way there would be 2 NL divisions with 8 teams each, 7x16 = 126-game RS, no interleague or interdivisional play, and one division champion (no WC). NL Divisional Champs meet in 5-game NLCS. Winner plays AL champion in 7-game WS. The. End.

Also, no night games, teams travel by train/bus, scheduled double headers, no free agency, fans dress up to attend games. ;-)

You know Bauer, Huff, Schilling, Clemens and Ryan would be up for restoring the color line.

MLB realigns the minors to reduce teams and make them closer to parent clubs.

The Rays keep the Durham Bulls as their triple-A affiliate.
