Unless some gas station can show me the charity receipts for where they donated their windfall as prices were rising, I'm not losing any sleep over their losses as prices are falling.

Get outta here with that "privatize the profits, cry like babies over the losses" BS.

I was at a concert last night at Mystic Lake (local Dakota tribe casino). They have two gas stations on the reservation, selling for $0.28/gallon less than the guys a mile or so down the road. While gas tax holidays are stupid, macro economically, the lack of tax has to be a huge boon for the tribe on th me micro level.

Dont mistake oil companies and gas stations. Gas stations as a general dont make money on way up, they make it on way down if the street doesnt move.

Are gas stations franchised like McDonalds?

I just can't imagine being in third grade thinking "when I grow up I want to have a gas station." It looks like one of the most unpleasant commercial entities to own this side of Bangladeshi Fecal Brickmaking Dealership.

This conversation was specifically about gas stations buying gas at $4.00* today (to fill up their bulk tanks) and then having to sell it at $3.90 tomorrow since the price is coming down. Absolutely the reverse would come into play as prices are rising - buy at $4 today, sell at $4.10 tomorrow.

*here "at $4.00" means at the wholesale price that presumes a retail price of $4.00

My grandfather owned a service station with a few pumps. His profit was that .9 cents per gallon. He only sold gas to keep his service station in people’s minds.

Movies and sports only exist to pull people into a killing jar to buy concessions.

franchises do exist, On The Run is franchise, used to be owned by Mobil, now its owned by Circle K.

In order to fly the flag of an Oil Company, lets say Shell, you have to meet their requirements, Uniforms, Card readers, mystery shop program, signage, bathrooms and whatever else.

I don't believe there are many Oil Company Operated Stores . Mobil used to have thousands, when Exxon came about, they were liquidated. I'm not sure if other Oil Companies still run retail?? I doubt it.

But they're still making a profit at $3.90. Just not as much.

Former sports reporter turned conservative pundit Michelle Tafoya is trolling companies on Twitter like Nike about how they do their manufacturing abroad. She is doing it from her fucking IPad.

She has replies turned off which is the only reason she isn't being destroyed.

Wetlands? Sure, perfect. Build a housing development in a marsh.

Do you know where the land is? It has zero value environmentally and would be much better than clearing 2k acres of forestland. Not to mention it’s right off the highway so would save emissions from people driving less.
