I've seen and read enough to believe that China is an economic paper tiger and that it's very well possible these failures are just the tip of the iceberg.

The China real estate market, certainly. I remember reading ten years ago that it was the largest speculative bubble in history. I can't believe it hasn't gone supercritical yet. I assume it's only because the CP has been frantically papering it over.

Someone has to pay for all of China's new, yet abandoned construction that has been happening since the 90's....

It's quite eerie if you look into it actually... Like abandoned 1800's mining towns, just, you know, modern and cities...

As someone who refinanced their mortgage through Better...I can say they probably didn't fire enough employees and hope the whole business goes down. It was literally the most incompetent process I could imagine. I floated 2 mortgages for ~3 months since it took them that long to get their shit together (and like 30 phone calls by me) for them to basically do the simplest refinance.

That being said, fuck fox news.

NFT's are as obvious a con as organized religion, right?

The Bored Apes, launched in April 2021, are "programmatically generated" - a computer script mixes and matches an array of colours, designs and accessories to make each unique. Initially sold for 0.08 ETH each ($320 at today's prices), they now sell for at least 50 ETH ($200,000).

Many owners - whether NFT enthusiasts or celebrities - use their apes as a Twitter profile picture. Beyond that, there are benefits to bring part of the "yacht club" - including invitations to community events and access to exclusive digital content.

These people are paying a quarter million dollars a pop for a value returned by a random number generator.

Squid Games are not far off.

I guarantee that somewhere, rich people kidnap poor people, offer them enormous prizes to fight to the death, bet on the outcome, calmly kill the winner, and repeat.

And that somewhere is almost certainly Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, or the Sheik States.

But we're getting there.
