Well like us all on here I hope they make it, be good for the program and reward their work.
But, if they dont, I feel like instead of hitting their confidence next year it will really hyper motivate them this summer, even more than last summer. Yes they will be disappointed, but then every team is but one.
 
I was looking at the home game numbers for Maine(in thinking about revenue) and comparing it to other teams. I stumbled across Arizona States schedule and was shocked at how many home games they have had. By seasons end Maine will have played 16 home games. Arizona State will have played 26! Imagine if Maine could generate revenue for 10 more home games this season? Arizona State will play 38 games, evidently games in Alaska don’t count towards the 34 game limit. Maine should do the same trick and do 4 games with both Alaska teams, and do back to back weekends in Alaska to travel there once. Assuming they could practice somewhere in Alaska each week. I’m not sure why Maine couldn’t at least get to half the 34 games at home this season? At least 17 but more pragmatic 18 home games? I think whoever does the scheduling needs to schedule a minimum of 18 games. But try like hard to get to 22 since 4 games in Alaska can be exempted. I’m guessing that 4 homes games generate a lot more than it costs to make one trip spanning two weeks in Alaska… my guess is that $560K for the 4 games and about $60K for the Alaska trip. So that would be a $500K increase in revenue and 4 extra games on the season above the 34 game limit.

Arizona State pulled out every trick possible to maximize home games. Exhibitions against ACHA Arizona, hosting a tournament, then scheduling every independant or recently independent team they could (including both Alaska schools). It may be worth Maine considering playing out there, but I would caution that more games is less rest and there may not be a school further from Alaska than Maine.

The schedule makers here tend to agree to multiyear home and home agreements with nearby OOC opponents. We probably can't make that agreement with the extra games. Obviously, we could book a desperate school such as Stonehill or LIU but I would rather get the team rested and healthy.

Right, you can't really compare Maine to Arizona State. As an independent, ASU doesn't have a 50/50 home/road split for the majority of its games. Also, as an independent, ASU is necessarily going to have to play all of the other independents while conference play is going on. And ASU has a lot more "weight" than the other independents. Arizona State is going to play Lindenwood, LIU, Augustana, and Stonehill, for example. But no way in hell is Arizona State going to play AT any of those schools. They all get to go to ASU for two or they can lump it. And they need the games. The Alaskas are a bit different, as was pointed out, because you get the bonus games for playing there. So ASU did home and homes.

I would note, however, that Arizona State is going to set a record for most wins in D-I hockey history by a program that misses the NCAA tournament. Their schedule is (1) weak, and (2) overloaded at home, so the RPI is low.
 
Back on the task at hand, I think tonight is a get right game for Bradly. UNH doesn't have the horses on the back end that PC or UMass does. I think he gets a little more space to get those shots off tonight. I think he gets at least one goal tonight.

Feel like Breen has been sitting 4 points shy of getting his 100th career point for weeks now. Would love to see a big weekend for him.

Barr put that 82-27-20 line back together for some shifts against Providence, so wonder if he'll go back to it to spark all three of them tonight.

Hellsten, the UNH goalie, is also from Sweden. Both Providence goalies are from Sweden, as are Maine’s. Wow, Sweden has the goalie market cornered.
 
Every team now knows the d break out along the wall and to put heat on the d there will be turn over. This is a huge problem for this time of year.
 
Does Maine have a grade A shot so far. Once again Maine not knowing how to clear the zone bites them
 
If Maine gets into the locker room only down one, it will be a miracle. This team just never, ever, has control of the puck. It's been an issue for weeks.

Also, Boija's five hole is an issue.
 
Rough first period. UNH carried the play and dominated chances.

Hopefully Barr lights the team up in the intermission because they did not look ready to play at all.
