NFL 2019-20: The Patriots Are A Terrible 11-3 Team!

You know, by virtue of where I live, I'm a fan of all sports teams here. I liked Brady, he did AMAZING things here. It was a treat to watch him. He started to get super annoying towards the end, but he was still a member of the Patriots, so whatever. Then he left on not the best of terms. Eh, it happens. It made me roll my eyes quite a bit watching his ginormous fanbase here still genuflect to him. They rooted for TB, bout TB merchandise. OK fine. The local news stations here covered stories on him for the stupidest things. HE DOESN'T PLAY HERE ANYMORE. There is no need to lead off the 6:00pm news with some frivolous story about him. Gah! People LOVE him. I get it. I do.

So, now he retires and in his prepared and planned statement - not ONE mention of the fans here. I get his exit from here wasn't the greatest but that's between him and Bill. Not the plethora of fans he has here. I'm hoping he follows up with something like a full page ad in the Boston Globe thanking fans here. What a jackbag if he doesn't.

He might feel like he already did that when he left. Not saying he's right to say nothing, but maybe that's the case and isn't intended as a snub.

Brady has a perfectly curated image. I'm sure whoever is in charge of it will suck off the Boston fans and press so hard they'll be sore until next Evacuation Day. He knows those people have the thinnest skins on the planet.

Let alone deep pockets. There's a lot of opportunity to sell licenced stuff all over New England, and since he's not getting money to throw a ball, he should consider some pay to just let someone else sell stuff with his name on it. Way more potential in all of New England than a slice of Florida.

Florida's GDP is probably larger than all of New England's.

But it's all drugs, so Brady is going to have to start selling meth.

Aaaaand, the separate tweet to Patriots Nation comes out. Wondering if it was planned or reactionary. Either way, I'm glad he finally said something.

I saw the texts from Belicheck where he mixed up Daboll and Flores. What an idiot.

I think Flores has a decent case against the Dolphins owner. I don't doubt for a second they tried to bribe him to tank for the #1 pick or that they tried to tamper to get a QB. Without knowing my guess is it was Deshaun Watson prior to the legal issues.

I think the NFL is going to feel some heat over this.

edit: Flores likely just killed any shot he has of another job though.

Pats need a defensive coordinator. A real one, not Steve Belichick.

It's an interesting complaint if you read it in its entirety, but there is one part of the complaint with which I don't necessarily agree. Over and over they cite the fact that about 70% of the league is Black but only 11% of the coaches, and that this is evidence of discrimination since this overwhelming majority of Black players aren't getting a chance to coach after their playing days are done (I think that is even one of the specific allegations). The thing is, NFL head coaches very rarely come out of the former player ranks, white or black. They basically work their way up from colleges, or even high school.

The NFL has a problem, but I think that is due in large part to a similar problem that we see at the college level in terms of opportunities for black coaches. It doesn't explain why someone like Flores who now has had experience doesn't get a second chance when people like McCarthy do.

Should’ve stayed as Football Team. It was one of those things that went from ironically good to actually good. Simple and unique.

But hey, now there are gradient numbers and a black alternate they can sell.

From the Comments:

It reminds me of the kind of name a movie or TV show comes up with when they can't use real team names.

And

I’m calling dibs on becoming the Commandalorian.
