Colgate 23-24

It will be great to see what we have tomorrow. Excited about first years and how lines will be set, but mainly the new D that will be our future after this year...

Good solid exhibition win against St Lawrence.
I like the new players and some of last years frosh look a year better. We seem to have speed and good depth. Next weekend's OSU double header will tell us exactly where we are early in the season...

Once a Raider always a Raider. Given the Gate women played only one exhibition game this weekend I went looking for former Raiders and was delighted to find several doing very well. Darcy Lappin our first raider to leave for greener pastures last year is still excelling at Clarkson. They will be good this year. Katie Chan scored for Cornell in her first appearance and got a lot of ice time on the first or second line. They will be good too. Sammie Smigs is at BC wearing #13 which I think is great and also scored in her first game, and Maggie MacEachern who like Sammie is a grad student at PSU got a ton of time on D against Northeastern and on the power play. PSU split the 2 weekend games but was the better team.

All this talent excelling elsewhere speaks volumes about what Coach Fargo has created in Hamilton.
Go Gate!

Just a reminder, Friday's game is at 6:00, saturdays game is at 3:00. Can't wait ! Both games on ESPN+.

I see OSU saying they will be rolling four lines, guess they're really deep.

That's what one of our players said on the teams FB page. Typically we've run three lines but the Muzzinator not only has a stellar freshman class she cherry picked the transfer portal again putting together what I personally think is an amazing roster. Regardless of the depth we have it will be a challenge for our first games to be on the road against a strong team like Colgate. I'm not making any predictions until OSU has a few games under their belts to see how well the new players mesh. I also don't know if Webster will be making the trip as she's a two sport player who's on the field hockey team who play at Iowa Friday and at Indiana on Sunday.

I'll put our 4th line of Holk, Stewart and Malachino against anyone's 4th line based on speed alone.
If we run 4 like against St Lawrence every line has its own strengths and can be a problem, but OSU has worked the COVID transfer portal better than anyone so it should be some terrific hockey with a number of players on both sides who will soon be playing in the WPHL and for olympic medals on the US and CAN National teams.

I like your thoughts on 4th line vs 4th line. I don't know who Ohio State's lines will be but no matter who it will be it should be an interesting matchup.

Great opportunity for Simpson and Bard to showcase that they are two of the best D in the country. They don't get the credit that they deserve because they get overshadowed by coverage of the bigger programs. It will be interesting to see Barnes who it seems like is in her 10th year of college hockey ;)

So true, you hit the nail on the head...With NIL payments and a legit pro league now for the women too it will be interesting to see if they stay around to pad their stats for another year or possibly win a championship with COVID eligibility left or go pro. Kalty will have that choice this year.

Wow sloppy last few minutes all over the ice but with Osborne's unbelievable net minding we somehow made one less mistake and Emma P nailed it for the winner! What a great memory from your first college game!

We tied in the first game last year and then lost 7-2 in the second. Not this year. We have to bring the same intensity we had tonight plus 20% tomorrow as you know they are pissed and will be flying...Go Gate...
