Congratulations every single one of you "2A"-ers who refused to act upon sh*t like this. You're going to now get hunting rights restricted/taken away from those who aren't homicidal extreme right-wingers.

Go f*ck yourselves with a fifty cal round and don't use a flared base when you insert it.

Well, that was inevitable. A very simple compromise like the 90's Assault Rifle Bill could have been made a long time ago but the fuckwits said no to everything.

The "all or nothing" fuckwits whined incessantly about the '94 assault weapons ban, too. I would know, since 16 year-old Fade wrote and argued for a bill to overturn the ban in high school civics class. I then thought I was really triggering the libs when, as mock Chief Justice during the SCOTUS portion where we pretended to re-argue Lee vs. Weisman, I basically argued in favor of what we know today as "religious freedumb".

And they keep saying we’ll get more conservative as we get older…

Yeah, I've become the kind of liberal everyone loves to hate - the upper-middle class, "Brie & Chablis" kind.
  • Moderates hate me because I have beliefs and principles, despite being able to see the grey areas of an issue
  • Most of my upper-middle class peers and the wealthy of all stripes hate me because I agree with progressive income taxation, and especially believe in higher brackets for people who make 6+ figures
  • Poor conservatives hate me because I'm bougie and wrinkle my nose at trailer park culture, whilst arguing that I should be taxed more to help educate them and lift them up so they can at least afford healthcare and proper meals (socialism!1!!11!)
  • Poor liberals hate me because I make very good money and I am able to afford to own a house...but I do get a few points back for being a generous tipper and supporting a higher minimum wage, so this is probably the group that hates me the least
  • The Christian Taliban really hates me because I've become an apostate atheist with no plans to have or raise children, and I don't think women automatically belong barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen unless they really want to be hausfraus
  • Minorities, while they probably don't hate me, are understandably suspicious of me because, like every white dude, I do more to help perpetuate the status quo than I do to effect any real change
  • Low-level white collar employees (mainly IT & HR folks) hate me because as a consultant who implements technology that ultimately eliminates some of their helpdesk and paper-pusher jobs, I'm literally "The Man"
  • Union members hate me because I'm bougie and my job doesn't produce any good or service of tangible value
  • Fashies hate me because I believe in democracy and intellectualism, and despise their entire xenophobic, jingoist, black vs. white worldview - I go straight to the gas chambers if they ever take over
  • Commies hate me because despite my stance on higher taxes, I still believe in a market economy, well-regulated banks, and fiat currency
*sniff* It's such a hard life being this hated.

I'm right there with ya...with the added "Rich Jew killed Jesus but supports a 3 state Israel solution". (I don't make 6 figures but I own banks and Space Lasers!!!1!1!1) So the Christ Cult hates me because I'm anti Israel and anti Jesus and the Left hates that I don't want to give all of Jerusalem or Israel to Palestinians and move the Jews somewhere else.

Hated because:

1. Proud member of the Alphabet Mafia.
2. I think Biden doesn't go far enough while Bernie is too far.
3. I'm not terribly concerned about Bezos (a lot of what he does is for attention).
4. And I remind poor Trumpies "private business can do whatever they want" means excluding them too.

And a couple of nights ago there was a rolling six block gun battle between two cars in downtown Minneapolis. Should be interesting to see the effect on the defund the police vote in November.

So the ballot question isn’t “defund the police and have nothing” but i think you know that.

maybe there shouldn’t be so many fucking guns everywhere

Unfortunately, that cake is baked. The "Defund the police" signs will be attached to any attempt to change policing for the foreseeable future, sadly.

I don't think anyone believes that "have nothing" is one of the alternatives. However, (and this is just my opinion) the vast majority of voters are going to go to the polls with this simple question in their minds: Do I think we should have more cops or fewer cops on the streets?

Right or wrong, that's the question most voters will have in mind, and as I stated in my original post, I wonder the extent to which the recent violence in St. Paul and Minneapolis will affect that vote.

I think you're right. Every time there's a shooting in the community, there's a question about defunding police which is inevitably framed as eliminating cops altogether.

defund: prevent from continuing to receive funds

The problem is in the naming of the movement. Yes, cops need reorg and restructure. (Why does Fargo need an armored personnel carrier?) But "defund" sends the wrong message and is easily attacked. No, I don't have a better word; I'm not a marketing/PR guy.
