Gun Control 1: Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang

I thought the FBI was saying this had nothing to do with the baseball game, but was some sort of gun traffic ring?

I don't care if it was a bake sale...

One side definitely wanted to kill some people. They can a rot in solitary for 20 years

No other civilized, allegedly first world country allows their children to be slaughtered for no fucking reason like we do here in the U S of A. Some deranged, sick individual has a bad day and is angry at something or nothing, and takes out a gun and starts firing away. One kid, or three kids, or two dozen kids die, and we don't do 5h!t.

The second amendment needs to be repealed. The NRA and other gun rights groups who have been fighting sane gun control for 3 decades now need to be eradicated. I say this as someone who has owned firearms (handguns) for decades, and is (was, really as I haven't re-upped in the new state) a concealed carry permit holder. Blow up the fucking second amendment.

The second amendment needs to be repealed.

No, it only needs to be interpreted rationally.

We don't react to Citizens United by saying "we have to repeal the First Amendment." We just need to add enough judges that the Nazis and Plutes are diluted and SCOTUS no longer reads the Constitution as Joseph Goebbels / Frederic Bastiat slash fiction.

That is an awful analogy sorry. We can claw things back from Citizens United there is no going back on guns. We will never have a time where the 2nd is interpreted as it was written. The First Amendment, even with CU, is still fundamentally the same as it was.

The only way back is through Draconian measures.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the interpretation of 2A until around 1975. That's when the GOP started trading Nazis influence in exchange for racist voters.

The Draconian measures are we enforce voting rights and we start putting people who interfere with elections into prison for a long time. Democracy solves this issue.

I agree with both you and Handy on different aspects of this issue. Yes, until the middle 1970s (or even a little later than that actually) the 2nd was not weaponized in the manner it is today. But we are too far gone, and gun owners have lost the rights to continue with a lot of the private gun ownership because we have not been responsible collectively. It has to be blown up. But when I say repeal the 2nd amendment I am not saying eliminate private ownership of firearms. We need an amendment that speaks to the issues of 2021 while at the same time allowing someone like me to own firearms as I am not nearly as crazy in real life as I sometimes act here. I am an ultra responsible gun owner and take the responsibility of owning or carrying a firearm like it was an issue of life or death, because it really is.

Oh were shooting paramedics and fire fighters now.

cool.

“A series of attacks on paramedics, firefighters and police on Sunday left five people shot, several children missing and one person dead in Tucson, Arizona. The suspect, an unidentified 35-year-old man accused of opening fire on an ambulance responding to a medical call at Quincie Douglas Park at about 3:45 p.m. The man allegedly shot the 20-year-old male EMT driver in the head and struck the 21-year old female passenger in the chest and arm. The suspect is then accused of driving to the scene of a nearby house fire about a mile away and opening fire on firefighters and neighbors who were attempting to put out the fire.

Obviously there's nothing we can do about this. Good guys with guns and all that jazz...

Firefighters need easy access to firearm while manning their fire hoses

Have a trigger on the hoses? Like the firefighter can click between water and bullets? Would look pretty cool.

The best fucking country in the world

“JUST IN: At least 915 shootings took place across the country last week, leaving at least 430 people dead, new reporting shows. The shootings, which occurred between Saturday, July 17 and Friday, July 23, wounded 1,007 people.

The stunning numbers illustrate the spike in gun violence that is occurring throughout the U.S.”

It would, but because of people like you, we don’t have enough political force to make it happen. We even have Hovey on board with taking away 95% of the guns in this country. Hovey, for fuck’s sake. Or, at the very least, if he’s not on board, ONLY he recognizes that lessening the number of guns circulating is the only answer to our unique problem.
I mean, we could even take away like 90% of the guns in this country, and that’d leave enough for one gun per household, who already report having a gun in their household. 48.5 million guns for a country of 330 million instead of close to 400 million guns. Make it an even 50 million.
