Wisconsin Hockey 22-23 Empty Dreams & Empty Seats

So Martin has left the program and Buckburger is heading back to the AJHL for another season (which is a bummer to me). That means for D we have Kehrer, Vorlicky, Ceulmanns, LaMaster, Laatsch, Donovan, Dexheimer and Jugnauth. All I hope for is 2 things: heads on swivels in the D zone and stick to stick breakout passes.

Jugnauth had 41 A in 52 games, Dexheimer had 39 A in 60 games, UW so needs a few D that are assist rackers who are reliable in the D zone.

Let's hope they stay healthy as with 8 you can only have 2 injuries and freshman may be shoved into PT just based on injuries.

I'd like to see the Fr beat out Vorlicky, LaMaster and Donovan. I've never been a Vorlicky fan, Donovan is meh and LaMaster has played sparingly.

Disappointed to see Jake Martin departing. I thought he was really good last fall just coming in. Like the way he can skate, like the pace he played with. I think he can really develop into an excellent player. Was looking forward to seeing him play this season, but that bout with mono really changed the course of his career.

At least one of those 3 has to play, right Timmy? I think Vorlicky was still raw the last time we saw him but he has talent. No idea what to expect from him a year and half later. I think LaMaster has more potential then I gave him credit for early on. That kid came back from some devastating injuries to get here. To me he appears to see the ice well and can play pretty fast. The latter is a big hurdle to get over at this level and he seems to be able to handle it. If Donovan can give us 10 minutes here and there without major faux pas, that would be pretty valuable to this team.

Yep. I like LaMaster the most of the of 3. He has showed he has some development over the years, similar to Peltonen. I'd be happy if he had a similar trajectory. I just want smart heady play on the breakout and solid play in the D zone.

I would have said Peltonen just cannot play D1 college hockey after his first year, probably after his second, too. Didn't think he would ever be able to play at the pace necessary. I was wrong though, he turned into a pretty solid guy by the time he was a Senior.

Also, this is just the worst thing imaginable. Anyone with the means please consider supporting fellow Badger and Director of Hockey Ops, Shane Connelly and his family, here: https://t.co/YbcoOexleM

Can McIntosh tell the B10 USC and UCLA can be B10 when they have hockey?!?!?!

Careful what you wish for, remember when AZ State whooped UW a couple of years ago? Sheesh.

Maybe I'm an old fart traditionalist, but USC and UCLA in the Big 16? Knights & turtles didn't make sense to me, but ah yes, it's about the Benjamins.

I AM an old fart traditionalist and this move also sucks, just like adding those eastern teams. The money being thrown around in college and pro sports is obscene. It could do a lot of good if in the right hands.

I’m with ya. I want the WCHA in hockey and the OG B10 in football and bball.

but…we’re screwed now.

if these teams pick up hockey I suspect Arizona state follows them into the conference that should be renamed.

Lol, what is Nashville doing…

Not sure what TBL is doing! That just left a big gap in their D. He's "only" 33 and d/men seem to be able to hang on longer.

Mismash sounded familiar, so I had to look him up. (Ahhh NoDak). Sure enough, a pretty good resume; an Edina "Cake-Eater" who went to Shattuck, played for some US national teams and went to NoDak. Played 57 games with the Admirals this year. Myers has been back & forth from the AHL-NHL for about 5 years.

I'll take McDonagh, but it was a salary dump.

McDonagh has definitely lost a step and has 4 years left on his contract at $6.75M AAV. That’s a boat anchor/albatross contract.

Jugnauth to Seattle @ 100, Lucius to Carolina @ 124.

One scouting report on Jugnauth said "pure offense. A rover and then more roving after that." Don't pair him with Corson C please, but I am excited about the kid.

Shane Connelly's infant daughter died in June. there is a go fund me here: https://twitter.com/ShaneConnelly/status/1546310999984279553

Let's help out their family thru something a new parent should not have to deal with.....just awful.

A very sad event indeed. One would think working for UW that he has better and less costly insurance than most of us smucks, so he has that going for him. Plus old buddies who made some coin playing professionally, so I think financially it will turn out ok.

Lots of Badger NHL movement the last 24 hrs.

Kyle McClellan is one of the goalies at the Minnesota Wild development camp. He looked alright in the 3v3 tournament. Obviously 3v3 isn't a great indicator for a goaltender's ability. Wonder if he's gonna force split starts with Moe.

Side note, I am super excited to see Marco Rossi play for the Wild this year. Minnesota deserves a good young center.
