The GQP Thread: I'm even sick of that fuck's number and, anyway, he's gone (for now)

Do you think Pat Sajak knew pictures of him with MTG we’re going to surface so he started the conversation about retiring from Wheel of Fortune ahead of it?

Just got back from a weekend in Duluth. Saw 4 "Fuck Biden" flags/stickers/shirts, 1 on a redneck at an axe throwing bar while walking down the street, 2 on F150s (one of which was towing 2 ATVS), and the last flying outfront of a moderately rundown home across the bridge in Superior, WI while we were going to pick up some Spotted Cow and other New Glarus libations to bring home. Couldn't have been more stereotypical MAGAs if they had tried.

I get that the area isn't as prosperous as it probably was 50 years ago, but it's still got working mines, a semi-major university, and a decent tourist area along the lakefront. And yet the liberals are supposedly the snowflakes...

Duluth has been doing just fine for itself. I'll bet it's more prosperous now than the last 50 years. At least on a median basis.

The inflated prices there are due to the Duluth tax which isn't levied by any government but rather the collective attitude of anyone who lives east of the hill. Even the shitty parts of Duluth are nicer than any time my wife had ever seen. And she lived there for like a decade.

edit: but yeah, there's a lot of very fragile white a holes up there. The divide is getting larger since it's relatively liberal city given what you find 15 minutes from canal park.

We enjoy it every year when we go up there, but we were shocked at the number of homeless/ panhandlers around downtown this year. Seemed like a lot more than past years, and it looked like the pandemic had caused a decent number of places outside of Canal Park to close.

Also, what the fark is up with every restaraunt serving salmon and cod dishes? We had to go out of our way to find a place selling walleye or trout out of the giant lake that was right there.

Yeah, they live and die by tourism. Almost as much as the keweenaw. COVID probably fucked then harder than the cities.

I think the drugs up there are a massive problem. Part of what's led to an explosion of homeless.

The salmon and cod thing I have no idea. Walleye is like the only fish I will eat. I will say, I make small exceptions for whatever they have at Northern Waters. That place is expensive as fuck and might actually be worth every penny.

Imagine if somebody would have just shot all the motherfucking Nazis back in the 1930s before they unleashed a decade of terror, first on their own citizens, and then many other countries far and wide. If humans are left in 2122 what are they going to be saying about us?

The last practical chance we really had was 1928.

Vote, by national election:
Code:
[B]Year Mil Pct[/B]
1928 0.8 2.6
1930 6.3 18.3
1932 13.7 37.3
1933 17.3 43.9

The death toll for WW2 was 85 million, the Holocaust another 11 million. An aggressive nuclear white nationalist superpower will leave that in the noise. We would be lucky if they killed only 960 million.

The Right is starting to look like the Trolley Problem.

To be fair, there is no consensus among ethicists what the correct resolution of the Trolley Problem is.

My ethics have always been there's nothing wrong with shooting as long as the right people get shot. The right people have become remarkably easy to identify in the last few years.

It gets a little muddy when the right people are the voters.

As a general rule, you don't shoot people for having murderous fantasies and voting people in who promise to fulfill them.

You do however disenfranchise them.
