The GQP Thread: I'm even sick of that fuck's number and, anyway, he's gone (for now)

More evidence the democrats play by rules that republicans don't even see fit to wipe their as ses with. It's one reason (of many) that our nation is failing.

It is also why I find democrats more distasteful than republicans. Yes, the republicans are fascists, bigots, and idiots, and if every republican in the house and senate were to die today I'd celebrate that as a victory. And because there is no realistic or more pragmatic alternative I also know I must continue to vote for democtats. But their weakness and often complete lack of boldness sickens me.

I know what the republicans are. I also know what the democrats should be.

Basically what that memo means is if Trump declares his candidacy before the midterms he will not be able to be prosecuted until after the 2024 election. He will basically be immune. This is a stupid policy. Democrats have not learned how to fight.

BSABSV ... D?

Rs say words at home to get elected and say all different words to stay in favor with NYT and WaPo when not home (i.e. in DC). At least the Ds are consistent. So I completely understand your sentiment and disdain, albeit from a more conservative POV.

Guys, I know this is going at glacial speed, and I'm not saying "all is well!". But the memo continues a policy that the previous handful of AG's had, where these investigations required higher levels of approvals. That's it. It doesn't say "no prosecutions or investigations". And the memo is from May, prior to the J6 Committee. If you've been paying attention the DOJ has been very active since then, so clearly things are happening.

Exactly. This is a nothingburger being blown way, way out of proportion. It's to prevent some rogue US attorney or other member of the DOJ (comey *cough*) from publicly opening an investigation and ducking around.

Don't the American people deserve the right to know whether their elected representatives that may be running for re-election were involved in a plot to overturn a legitimate election result?

Guess not.

Apparently they needed to know all about someone's email server. Now? Now it's a fucking problem to be informed. This country is fucked up.

I can't find the article I read, but supposedly this policy has been in place since the W Bush administration publicly, and was likely a continuation of it before that.

And again, it doesn't say "no investigating", it says "ask first".

That's fine. I'd just like to know why Mr. Comey was allowed to break the fucking rules. And that was under the Obama Administration.

Because Democrats always bend over backwards to appear non-partisan, while Republicans take every micrometer of power and use it to open up a gaping hole to ram their sociopathy through.

It's the difference between people who are trained in academia and science vs people who are trained in business and warfare.

There are plenty of democrats who understand business and warfare based on their education and professional backgrounds. I think your first point in more salient. Democrats are unwilling to do what needs to be done. Maybe a new guard of democrats would be different. But the ancients are running the show, to the detriment of the nation. Republicans are idiots and bigots. They CAN'T do any better. Democrats could. They choose not to. In my book that makes them even more contemptible.

I wish Merrick Garland had fewer “election-year sensitivities” and more “holy-shit-they’re-trying-to-overthrow-our-democracy sensitivities.”
