The entire Conservative Project is to get malicious people excited and frothing so that they will vote to cut their own throats. That's why Fox and its ilk is constantly stressing violent, emotional, Manichean narratives. That's what appeals to these people. As with their fire and brimstone preachers, and their misogynistic and racist social leaders, and their pseudo-scientific, paranoid conspiracy theorists, they are turned on by being terrible people. That's why they were so proud when Hillary called them Deplorables. She fed right into their fragile egos.

Failing at all their responsibilities in life -- school, work, parenthood, even basic hygiene -- conservatives have only one thing to be proud of: the superficial brainless rebellious aggression of adolescence. They are perpetual teens.

And as with teens, the way to deal with them is to ignore them as irrelevant and useless and send them to their room, and, if they turn to violence, to immediately bring the hammer down.

Who is seeking anything positive in such a horrifying story?

I just read 4-5 articles on the story. Firstly, it's pathetic that they all just copied and pasted the AP article and then changed the byline. Second, none of them say the circumstances of this illegal alien. Was it a border jumper? Visa overstay? Those are pretty different.


But in either case, the headline is "10 year old girl raped and state wants to prevent her from aborting the fetus". Anything else is less important than that. Waving around the specter of the perpetrator's visa status is an attempt to distract us from that fact.
 
It shouldn't even matter if it were an overstayed visa or someone who crossed the border without a visa.

I do think the reason for their illegal status matters, just not to the case at hand. A person who overstays a visa is an illegal alien. A person who sneaks in as a drug mule is also an illegal alien. Those are very different situations and should be treated differently.


And again, neither matters when we're talking about 10 year old rape victims who may not be allowed to abort the fetus.
 
Yeah no one is looking at this as positive. Just because one of you always wants to gloat doesn’t mean anyone posting a story here is saying it’s positive.

the right desperately doesn’t want people hearing about these horrible effects on women and children because it makes them look like the scum of the earth that they are.

I would be surprised if Fox runs the story as anything but "see how Dems exploit this poor girl" or "OH NOES CARAVAN!!!"
