BU 2021-22: Albie's Great Adventure

It would be interesting in the limited media time the reporters get with O'Connell is they could try to get an injury update
Heard Tuch is out 5 weeks- When is amonte coming back- What is situation with McCarthy. Is Jarman hurt

Mum's the word! The disclosure rules instituted a few years ago are so confining that we generally aren't even told that the injury has occurred, nor whether it's a scratch or a season-ender. You offense really could have used Tuch and Amonte this weekend.
My Northeastern team has its own casualty list. We had to play with 5 Ds for about 54 minutes against BC last Friday after Harris was slewfooted. At least we made it interesting. We let BC skate around so much that they had nothing left in the third period against Bentley the next night. That was delightful! :D

Injury news, especially at the college level is extremely limited these days.

Albie did address injuries on today's call. He said there would be "more guys available than last weekend" and that “yesterday we had most of the people available.” (Assuming he meant most of those who were not available last weekend.)

Three players will definitely not be available. He said “Luke Tuch will be out for a bit,” adding that he wouldn’t dress “this week or next. O’Brien as well.” Jarman has had season-ending surgery. No mention of McCarthy, so hopefully, he’ll be back. No mention of Ty Amonte either.

More from the call on the blog.

McCarthy returns on defense, paired with Fensore. Campolieto returns, paired with Webber. Same forward lines as last game.

Oh boy. When I saw this schedule come out, I thought this was a great chance for a strong start. 5-1 and possibly 6-0. After winning a road game at UConn, I was even more encouraged. That didn’t last long. And I bought my Frozen Four tickets today. What are the chances I won’t be using those?

Seemed like they shot pucks into the skates of a Merrimack player a least every trip up the ice.

On the positive at least it’s early.

Yah, mookie got some frozen four tickets the other day as well. At least he can get lunch as Sam lagrassa’s on Friday to make his 14 he flight worthwhile…

I went through the exact thought process, looking at the schedule. Saw the UConn game in person, felt pretty good.

I will say that I thought they could play well and still lose given the venue, and the injuries. But they didn't play well. Frankly these players just aren't as skilled as we think they are. And they aren't making good decisions. They struggle to control any pass that isn't exactly on their tape, and that leads to a loss of possession very frequently.

The microcosm play for me this time: goalie pulled, looking for an EAG, passing the puck around the zone, and someone attempts a pass through two Warriors to the far side like teams sometimes do on a Power Play. Why would anyone think that is a smart play to make? You are desperate for a goal, this is the time to take as many shots as you can and crash the net for rebounds. In this case we got lucky that it wasn't stolen, but it wasn't a good pass regardless and we had to regroup.

Oh well, going tonight, hoping for a better performance.

Spot on. Right now the offense is inept. They only score on a lucky turnover. Zero zone time, no traffic in front and way too much cute passing that results into nothing. I think they had 18 shots last night and maybe one or two high scoring chances. Only positive is that O’Brien/Tuch/amonte aren’t playing so there is hope it improves but ooooof.

Unfortunately this style of "offense" is a carry-over from last year so I have to say I'll be super surprised if our goals scored per game gets much better as the season moves on. They'd have to come to Jesus and change things on a dime. Not sure this team/program has it in them to do so. If the plan is to have Pando replace Albie, might as well do it sooner than later. Sad state of affairs.

In case you forgot what fun hockey looks like. PC bringing it. https://twitter.com/friarshockey/status/1451778236137021440?s=21

Imagine that - guys that can shoot the puck and not only have it get to the net, but it goes in! Snipers on both of those teams. Can we get a few of those on our team - who was the last one we has who could snipe? Eichel? We don’t have that mentality most of the time, or when we do the shot hits a defender.
