CNN reports that Trump began taking legal advice from Tom Fitton of right-wing activist group Judicial Watch shortly after he first returned the 15 boxes to the National Archives in January -- and that Fitton told him he shouldn't have turned over any docs in the first place.

The guy is not a lawyer (he has a BA in English I guess) and is a complete fraud...so perfect for Trump.

edit: it seems that the National Archives was willing to let Trump Fedex the documents back. I mean I know Fedex is great for mailing say, weed home whilst on vacation but classified documents?

Maybe I’m missing something, but he very much didn’t return the documents, hence the raid. He was getting bad advice well before the FBI knocked on the door. Given how he deals with *stuff*, he’s not spoken to a real lawyer for a very long time.

No reputable lawyer will put their career on the line for him. Since the early farcical voter fraud cases.

Yet they still support him right up until he throws them under the bus.

That's the perplexing part of this whole thing. Why hasn't the R party just ejected TFG and moved on?

Because they're afraid of his mob. Donnie only has to give the word.

I mean, look at the FBI the past couple weeks.

People who will represent him in court and politicians who support him in public are two (fairly) different things, and Rudy G is not a fair representative of the former. Lawyers can be sanctioned for frivolous claims, and they have been in the voter fraud cases. That's why reputable law firms have been staying away from him. Plus, he would be the worst client ever--lazy, lies continually, reads nothing, and will not listen to advice he doesn't want to hear.

That's civil. Criminal defense has different considerations. We'll see how that pans out, hopefully.

The comments came after he returned the original 15 boxes. You know the ones Sicatoka pretends prove he wasnt doing anything wrong. Tom Fitton said he should have never turned those in let alone the rest.

Right. And what was the suggestion to deal with the fbi raid? Thats what I am wondering about- they came with legal permission to get stuff that was not dumpies. Kinda hard to prevent that other than with weapons.

What's happening: The USPTO found two other companies who already use the Truth Social wording, which would create what's known as "likelihood of confusion" if Trump also got the mark.
  • Typically, when a company files for a trademark — the distinct brand-name it wishes to use exclusively — lawyers vet the term to make sure there's no conflicts.
  • "Ideally, you would pick a name where this wasn't going to happen," said Josh Gerben, a trademark lawyer in Washington, D.C., who tweeted the PTO filing.
  • But sometimes if a client really wants a name, the company will forge ahead, despite what the lawyers say.

Best businessman ever.

Who cares? Why are you trying to analyze the thoughts and ideas of someone who has no clue what he is talking about? The whole point is Trump is an idiot getting advice from idiots.
