He said, heavily paraphrasing, that he's seen judges help council and it doesn't look like this; that this is more "could you have this filled out by someone who isn't a total fuckwit".

Civil trial judges HATE sloppy and ambiguous pleadings and pretrial submissions, for a number or reasons. First, they hate being reversed. Unorganized and unclear plaintiff presentation makes for sloppy and extended trial requiring more judicial rulings and management, increased chances for appeal, and overall docket misery. That said, it's the plaintiff's burden, so judges can always use the burden of proof option after a poorly organized case presentation. That's why judges want good lawyers (and as few pro se cases as possible).

At the rate we're going, the future will be a North American wasteland full of gangs and cult leaders who rule their tribes and everyone else through violence. An actual "Life Imitates Art" version of The Stand.

Oh she isn't helping, she is just making sure he doesn't have an argument that he had ineffective counsel. (or any type of reversal) As soon as the motion is amended it is getting shot down faster than the fraud case where the lawyer admitted there was no fraud to the judge.

Right, it came across to me as "I'm going to give you a chance to clarify all of your inane points so it becomes clear to everyone how inane they are so that this cannot get overturned on some broad technicality".
