It sort of reeks of unnecessary courtroom theater. On the other hand, will it affect the outcome of the case one way or another? I don’t see how.

I mean the prosecution was only asking for 51 months and this is within the guidelines. I can't get too upset about that since there is no evidence he attacked anyone and he does have some mental issues. 3+ years in prison is nothing to sneeze at.
