The GQP Thread: I'm even sick of that fuck's number and, anyway, he's gone (for now)

Oh please. Manchin and Sinema are the villains right now. Just look at this Board, let alone some place like Vox or Slate. The GOP is sitting back and not interrupting the errors the Dems are making. Note, there's been zero pressure on Collins, Murkowski, or Romney to do anything despite being moderates.

While you're not wrong that the GOP and Moscow Mitch should be the villains, they ain't. But get McConnell and/or McCarthy back in charge of a chamber, and they can be once again.

And that's the wrongheaded thinking that has sunk the Democratic Party since 1980.

EDIT: GOP Never has a villain problem.

Who will pressure Romney? He’s not even moderate, and he’s from conservative Utah. Murkowski, maybe. She’s got a potentially tough election in 2022, but I don’t think assisting Democrats in “deficit-busting federal overreach” will help her with re-election. Collins just got re-elected in a landslide in blue Maine. Clearly, their voters aren’t too worried about Democratic priorities getting passed. So, none of them have any pressure from their constituents. MSM just wants drama, so they won’t pressure anyone. Manchin’s pressure is almost in the opposite direction. Sinema is the only one that makes no sense from a political standpoint, at least to my eyes.

Hey guys JFK Jr is making a special appearance today: https://twitter.com/stevanzetti/status/1455338895793659910

Actually it is supposed to be JFK Sr. Jr. and Jackie...

This country is fucked...

uno has a point...although to be fair Manchin and Sinema make themselves the enemy. Although Sinema seems to have caved on prescription drugs in the Biden Plan so there is that.

2 years of McCarthy as Speaker will probably be more helpful than anything the Dems could do leading to 2024.

I mean, cmon, that has to be someone trolling them, right? At what point is it just too ridiculous? How does JFK transfer power? Even if he's still alive his term ended almost 60 years ago. And the Julian calendar? Is there some story here that the Gregorian calendar is evil or something?

2 years of McCarthy may end the country altogether. There may be nothing left in 2024. Hell, Manchin is trying his best by himself.

Honestly, in terms of gearing up for 2024, it's not necessarily a bad thing to have a tangible villain to run against. Part of why the Dems are struggling this year and likely next year is that they nominally control the government and still can't do shiat cause of the Senate. If the GOP controls Congress in 15 months, it splits the damage for inaction and gives Biden a foil to play off of.

All this gets us is a few years of republicans pulling this country even further to the right, and to fascism. And if they go just a little bit too fast, democrats come in for a term or two and everything grinds to a halt. But it never moves back in the direction it used to be. It is a never ending cycle that has led us to where we are now, and where we almost ended up on 1-6-21.

The next time (2024, if those boogie men convince enough Americans that we're not quite ready for a fascist government and vote to keep a democrat in the White House) they will be a lot more organized and a lot better prepared and will almost certainly have more states controlled by trump republicans and not republicans who still have some semblance of a functional tether to reality. Oh, and a republican U.S. House.

The next time, Wisconsin and Arizona and Michigan and Georgia probably will not turn out like they did in 2020, no matter who wins the majority of the votes. I want to know what voters are going to do when their candidate wins and the people who they expect will do the right thing end up doing the fascist thing?

It's a little ironic that if we want to prevent widespread violence, republicans probably need to win. Most democrats will probably accept the results if all the indicators are a republican has won. I guarantee that in any purple state in this country there won't be 1 republican in 10 who will buy a democrat winning. My guess is the event a democrat appears to have won in November 2024, the aftermath of the that election will make the events of 1-6-21 look like the tourist event myth republicans have been spreading since 1-7-21.

Ok, so if JFK were still alive today, he'd be what, 105?

Or is he stepping out of a time warp, straight from 1963?

Speaker doesn't have that much power. It isnt like he will be able to pass anything if the Senate doesn't flip. And even if it does Biden will just veto it anyways since they won't be close to a veto proof majority.

OK so he didn't show up in the plaza, but he WILL be opening for the Stones: https://www.rawstory.com/jfk-jr-rolling-stones/

I love that the Dead that seem to be coming back (outside of maybe Dale Earnhardt) all seem to be people who would want nothing to do with Trump. I mean the Kennedys were Democrats and Robin Williams was a full on Marin County Uber Liberal.

I guess the one consolation is they aren't voting?

No they were all deep undercover to defeat the vile child abuse ring. Or something.

Ladies and gentlemen, today's republican voter...

republican scum said:
When do we get to use the guns? No, and I'm not — that's not a joke. I'm not saying it like that. I mean, literally, where's the line? How many elections are they going to steal before we kill these people?

That, my friends, is a far more commonplace sentiment than a lot of people want to believe.
