So a Democrat controlled House plus a Democrat controlled Senate plus a Democrat President *reduced* the deficit?

Just like it's happened the previous times they had full control. And the opposite trend when r's are in control.

How is it that r's can still hang their hat on being conservative with money???? I just don't get it. Granted, dumpy made a mess thanks to COVID, but it was already growing every year he was in power. Just like how Bush ended by growing it. Obama and Biden contracted it (and Clinton left a surplus for once).

And while D's have proposed a tax hike, they have not put one in place- and STILL did that.

To be fair, a lot of the deficit reduction is from the expiration of Covid relief programs, not necessarily Democratic control. No, Republicans never perform better. Their deficit explosions don’t help anyone other than the rich.

I’m worried what I posted about a handful of weeks back is going to come to pass: even if the Eighth Circuit Court finds the plaintiffs in the student loan forgiveness case don’t have standing, there will be a future case brought by someone who will, like, say, a loan servicer.
From there, this article: https://www.vox.com/platform/amp/po...-cancellation-forgiveness-debt-nebraska-biden

I guess my question is if, let’s say, the Eighth Circuit and SCOTUS refuse to hear this particular case, will the Biden administration have time to discharge debt in the meantime before another plaintiff with actual standing can sue? And, if so, what does the payout look like? Surely every student who had $10,000-$20,000 discharged wouldn’t see that money placed back in their accounts, would they?

YOu wouldn't think so, but no one has ever gone broke overestimating the cruelty of the GOP.

Hell, there's a chance it not only would get put back, but put back with interest, penalties, and put into forbearance.

Student loan forgiveness shot down by some loser Trump judge in Texas. Guess the Supreme Court gets to use its judicially created “major questions” doctrine to shoot it down once and for good now.

Of all the sh-tty lawsuits by plaintiffs with no standing being brought against student loan forgiveness, this is the one they determine the plaintiffs have standing? Pathetic.

That works out perfectly for Democrats. Sure, it would be better for the individual young person with student debt to get some real relief. But now you see that there is one side who is actively working against you- just like they are for many other people- particularly minorities. And for all of the talk from the right, they only cut taxes for people who don't need more money and say no to every other relief. Oh, and try to be dictators. People notice that.

All elections matter.

(in reality, this move was a good one for Ds, since it either works out to help a lot of young people who are in debt due to bad tax cuts OR it gets overturned by judges who got there from r's.)

My expectation is Biden now pauses payments for the rest of his presidency.

At least the lawsuit that said it would be forcing a taxable event in certain states made sense (even though you could voluntarily not choose to take forgiveness).

This one is literally because she says it’s not fair she didn’t qualify?

If the Dems were vindictive they would do the same for the farm subsidy. We aren't fucking pricks though we just want to help.

I actually agree with Drew I expect Biden to halt payments til '24.

So WTF happens to the folks who got their loans wiped when the RNC Black Robe Special Operation reverses?
