I got it slightly wrong, it was the Teller Amendment to the Declaration of War against Spain:
... hereby disclaims any disposition of intention to exercise sovereignty, jurisdiction, or control over said island except for pacification thereof, and asserts its determination, when that is accomplished, to leave the government and control of the island to its people.

I realize the Spanish-American War is the most glossed over part of our history but even I remembered we’re pretty well prevented from annexing Cuba.

By force, anyway. If Cuba’s people voted to request admission, I would hope we’re not dumb enough to turn them down.

Its a little concerning his administration was so unaware of the formula issue. It’s been a problem since last winter.

The formula issue is the result of decades of corporate mergers, "manufacturing efficiencies" and crony capitalism.

Abbott has one lab making formula for the entire country, and they are the preferred WIC formula for more than 2/3 of the states (meaning WIC recipients can only get their formula with WIC funds).
  • The fact that we've allowed companies to merge so much means there's virtually no competition for anything.
  • We've allowed manufacturers of critical items to reduce to one, single plant.
  • We've allowed them to work with such little oversight that, in this case, a number of babies got sick due to contamination issues.
Blaming this on one president is stupid.

Additionally, all the things that the right whines about in socialism... is happening now with capitalism.

Your post is mostly correct, but I think that Biden’s administration should have realized without supply from the Abbott plan there was going to be a shortage and taken appropriate action at that time. This was easily avoidable and the administration didn’t do anything until it was a full blown crisis. If random people like me knew this was an issue months ago the administration should have known as well.

Really? How would they forsee such a shortage because of a contamination? Funny no one else was talking about it back then.
