Her statement makes no sense. It reads more like when journalists are cut due to budget reasons. If you’re quitting because you were “forced” to write an article, why would you continue to prop up how great the paper is in the exact same statement?

How much you want to bet that if Racists were handing out old copies of the art of the deal, that would be totally ok..... It's hardly surprising that Racists would complain of someone doing exactly what they would or have done.

And since we know this was a false claim, it kind of means that racists were actually doing this at one point. They have been projecting their own BS things for a long time now.

I've often thought we should call their bluff and institute 100% federalism. No more USG funding for social services and education. Everything through the states, funded by state taxes. That would be the end of red states.

If it weren't for the millions of people who would suffer because of that (some willingly), that would be fun. But we are not mother USSR who are willing to sacrifice people for the sake of policy.

Just defund oil companies. Use that tax dollars to pay for education- that would go a LONG way.

That is a great graphic. You can cleanly tell when the GOP jumped off the rails rallying being Reagan. The gap between Reagan fan boys and middle ground is startling.

Bush Sr was cloudy because of Operation Desert Shield I presume.

Bush Jr likely got his overlap for Operation Iraqi Liberation, err Freedom.

And then the gulf continued to divide...


As one of the comments to that tweet perfectly summed up: It's the Fox News effect.
 
This is exactly as Roger Ailes intended when he created Fox explicitly as an alternate universe of lies. He thought that if Nixon hadn't had to face facts he wouldn't have had to step down. We got our answer with Dubya and Dump: a Republican can commit any crime and it won't matter because smart conservatives will lie and dumb conservatives won't know.

The Right is a religion with a terrorist arm.

Ironically, that's what R-voting Texans and Georgians say about the influx of blue state transplants in the last decade.

I see Tim Scott followed the Republican script of lying for the entire speech. Just once I'd like those assclowns to tell the truth.

Being serious, essentially he didn't give a speech that was written for flair, he was talking directly to the American people. To the effect of:
  • Do you really want lead pipes? Of course not. Let's get this done.
  • Let's build the [wind] turbine blades in Pennsylvania, not Beijing.
  • Let's create a new NIH version of DARPA. (This got me all hot and bothered.)
  • Let's give your kid a head start and provide two years of Pre-K. Let's also help them out with two years of grades 13 and 14.
  • Trickle. Down. Has. Never. Worked. I won't raise taxes on anyone making under $400k. The tax cuts the Republicans passed may have given you a few bucks, but most of it went to CEOs' pockets. Let's raise taxes on the highest bracket back to what they were with George W. Bush. Just the highest bracket.
  • Why haven't we reauthorized the VAWA? That's ridiculous. I wrote it. Let's reauthorize it.

At what point can we get the press to point out that Tax Cuts for the rich has the same deficit issue as spending plans for projects? Money going out with constant intake is exactly the same numerical effect as just reducing money coming in.

But the system difference is MUCH bigger than that- tax cuts for the rich doesn't spend the same money, since the big result is saving more money as opposed to spending it

Whereas project spending is given to an economic sector that will spend quite a bit more of that money. And then there is the double benefit that there is an actual outcome to the spending- study to learn more that can make life better, new roads, better internet, etc.

Democratic tax and spending is SO, SO, SO much better for the overall system than just tax cuts, let alone the tax cut biases.

Let alone putting real people to work is so very good for their mental health.
